⚠️⚠️Waco residents - this is URGENT.
On 10/27/22, WISD school board Trustees Keith Guillory and Jeremy Davis pleaded with the other 5 Trustees to amend the design for the new WHS, Carver/ISMS, and Tennyson Middle - replacing glass interior classroom walls with bulletproof material to keep our kids safe.
Yet, Trustees José Vidaña and Emily Iazzetti voted to continue forward with the dangerous design after saying not one word. Trustee Jonathan Grant claims he would prefer his son have a clear line of sight to the shooter (in the instance it weren't a hoax like last month at WHS 🤔🤡). He also claims he hasn't heard from anyone but 3 people, which is a LIE.
Trustee Angelo Ochoa only sought to derail and deflect and asked "why now?," which was swiftly addressed & debunked. Chairwoman Stephanie Korteweg rambled on about being better neighbors, & having different perspectives. 🥱🤔 She then voted to keep the glass walls (and had me removed from the meeting when I demanded we know "WHY GLASS?!")
👉🏽I'm so sick of this Board/Admin robbing our kids of quality education & blaming students and parents for Leadership's own failure to listen and lead effectively - - and I know you are too! Waco families have suffered enough at the hands of affluent people who blame poverty and race for low test scores, while 3/4 of the state (including those with similar demographics and challenges) scored a B rating and WISD scored a C!!
✴️ We spend as much as HOUSTON ISD on salaries for Superintendent Kincannon and all her friends she brought from Belton ISD to replace our locals. This is unacceptable. WACO DESERVES BETTER.
📢 Listen - we're going to have to stand up for our own children, grandchildren, neighbors and friends. We must spread the word and round up our churches, parent groups, whoever we can in order to pack this board room on November 17 for them to hear us!!! 6pm SHARP at Franklin and 5th st.
