Friends, if anyone knows of a child that will not receive an Easter basket, because of our current economic circumstances, would you please private message me.

Governor Andy Beshear announced yesterday, that the Easter Bunny, was in fact, an essential worker.

We have a small amount of funds, and can’t do a lot, but would like to help some children in our community. Of course, baskets would be porch drop off only. 👍🏻

This is Morgan’s Bluegrass Princess, Ava. Truly, the story of how I met Ava’s Mom, Chastity Tuggle, is a really cool testament to the fact that God intentionally knits people’s lives together.

A couple of weeks ago, when schools in Kentucky had just made the decision to close, Morgan and I were talking with Chastity about how this would impact her and the Family Resource staff for the Henry County school system. Through our conversation, we learned that they would continue serving around 120 elementary school children by delivering food to their homes.

After we left Chastity, Morgan’s heart was so heavy and burdened for these children. She decided that she would take action and put together some “activity” bags for these children that could be delivered along with the meals.

Today, we delivered 127 little duffel bags filled with fun games and activities to Chastity and Ava. We met in a parking lot, no hugs were exchanged (even though we really wanted to squeeze their necks) and we kept social distance from one another, as directed by our governor, Andy Beshear. 😉

During this time, remember that there are children in our state that may not be living under the best circumstances. Let’s life them up in prayer.

Or, if you’re so inclined, partner with us to reach out to other school systems and provide help in whatever way we can! We were called to serve!!!!

Savannah’s room is now the St Michael’s Kids storage room. 🤣 So many people helped us with this huge project and we are so excited about delivery next week. These photos are only a portion of what we have to donate. I will share final numbers and more pictures next week, but for now, just know that the donated items will likely impact HUNDREDS of children entering the foster care system.

We have been working on a special project since September of 2019 and are nearing completion and delivery. I can’t wait to share the details with everyone very soon.

Why does it take so long to complete a project??? It takes so much time because each project requires a ton of preparation, fundraising and then using our resources and money wisely.

Often requested are stuffed animals that can be given to a child when they are taken from their home. We hit the jackpot tonight at Walgreens!

The items, in this photo, have been purchased over the past several months. Any time the girls and I are in Wal-Mart, we take time to peruse the clothing and shoes for good deals. Sometimes, we find one or two things to purchase and other times, we hit the clearance jackpot and buy out every pair of discounted leggings we can find.

This morning, we visited Graefenburg Baptist Church and, during announcements, found out that they were accepting donations of shoes and clothing for the foster care system. Immediately, I thought of our small stockpile of items at home.

Does God work intentionally? Absolutely. Have we been collecting kids clearance shoes and clothing from Wal-Mart for this specific purpose? It looks that way.

We love the opportunity to support others in their mission to provide resources for the foster care system. Tomorrow, Graefenburg Baptist Church will travel to the Appalachian Ministry Center in Ashland, Kentucky and St. Michael’s Kids is ecstatic we can send items to support their mission.

Helping Those Most Vulnerable

Life happens and sometimes that means tragedy for families. Automobile accidents, house fires, addiction, abuse, neglect, and natural disasters occur all around us and children are often the witnesses and victims of these events. Family tragedy is difficult enough for an adult to cope with but, for the kids, these events can leave emotional scars that will have a lasting negative effect for years to come.

Through fundraising and donations, SMK delivers resources to children through partner agencies in an attempt to mitigate the effects of tragic circumstances the child is experiencing. While there are community agencies available to help these children, resources may be limited. SMK’s mission is to be a conduit for these agencies and assist in bridging the gap to provide additional essential items. From a huggable and comforting teddy bear to foster care personal items, SMK provides emotional relief for those most susceptible of suffering the long-term effects of traumatic events.

SMK’s Goals:

• Be a resource to help
