Celebrating our #PhoenixOhana !

This past Thursday, all companies from the Battalion gathered together to celebrate our Soldiers with a Hail and Farewell at Camp Smith. We had a wonderful time welcoming new members to our formation, and saying farewell to those moving on! The strength of our team comes from our Soldiers, and we are so grateful for the work they do to create and maintain a better #PhoenixOhana. Mahalo to all who attended for making it an incredible and fun evening!

Check out what Lightning Academy is up to, FRIES/SPIES edition!

FRIES/SPIES is a course offered by Lightning academy. The name itself stands for Fast Rope Insertion/Extraction System and Special Patrol Insertion/Extraction System, meaning that students learn how to rig, inspect, and deploy soldiers through fast roping and/or suspension.
The skills taught throughout the course truly turn students into #forcemultipliers- the FRIES/SPIES Masters can deploy soldiers in any combat zone, allowing forces access to complex and volatile operational environments.

Our very own Captain Grace Andrews, Lightning Academy Commander, completed FRIES/SPIES this last course. Great work, CPT Andrews! #LeadingFromTheFront

Connecting with our Community through Service!

This past week, Soldiers from HHBN partnered with Daniel K. Inouye Elementary School to host an outdoor activity day for students! Events included relay races, sidewalk chalk drawing, hoola hoop contests, and much more. Soldiers enjoyed the opportunity to make some new friends, and had a blast playing games and engaging with students!

Recognizing Excellence!

This week, HHBN congratulates SFC Arturo Baeza, Replacement Company 1SG, for his induction into the Sergeant Audie Murphy Association. The BN is extremely proud of his hard work and determination!

From Divarty-
“The prestigious #SergeantAudieMurphyAssociation is comprised of the top 2% of Non-Commissioned Officers in the Army. These individuals are selected based on demonstrated leadership, professionalism, and overall military knowledge. Each is responsible for the training and welfare of the Soldiers in their care. #LegacyofService
During the month of May, we honor and commemorate the service of Asian American & Pacific Islanders to the Nation and our Army. This month’s theme is “Advancing Leaders through Purpose-Driven Service.”

Today we feature SGT Irvin Collins, from TAC Platoon, SISCO. SGT Collins is a 25Q, which is a Multichannel Transmission Systems Operator.

SGT Collins is from Washington State, has served with the 25th for 3 years, and is Samoan. He credits his uncles in Samoa for inspiring him to enlist in the Army, saying that their service made a big impact on him growing up. He also credits his mother with giving him that final push to join and for supporting him throughout his career. “Family makes serving personal,” he says, adding how proud he is to have carried on his uncles’ legacies.

Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month stands as a reminder of strength the Army has gained, and will gain, though a high-quality, diverse, all-volunteer force.

In the #PhoenixOhana, People are our greatest strength!

#PeopleFirst is an all day, everyday mentality here at HHBN. Our soldiers are dedicated, hardworking, and motivated to complete any mission. We recognize this #UnityofEffort mentality by doing quarterly awards ceremonies, so that soldiers know how valued they are by their organization. Today, P6 and P7 recognized soldiers from all companies across HHBN for their contributions to the Battalion- whether it’s processing leave forms in the S1 shop, running cables, or even mowing the lawn, all jobs in the #PhoenixOhana have meaning and are essential to mission success. Thank you, Soldiers, for all of your hard work!

Repost from 25ID DIVARTY

In light of Asian American and Pacific Highlander Heritage Month this May, we want to highlight the 25th Infantry Division Hui Ha’a team (the ‘dance of the warrior’)! This exhilarating and important Hawaiian tradition celebrates Hawaii’s proud warrior heritage, and the virtues of strength and honor. It is traditionally used to unify, connect, and empower warriors to complete a difficult task, or honor an esteemed individual or event. Soldiers from across the Division, including HHBN, are part of this incredible team.

Reach out to SSG Clarence Cunningham at [email protected] for more information or come out to Weyand Field Tuesdays and Thursday mornings from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m.

Today on #MilitarySpouseAppreciationDay, we honor and thank all of the spouses that contribute so much to their families and to the Army! Mahalo to all of the Spouses for the support they provide to our #Soldiers- we are grateful, and cannot express our appreciation enough for their commitment to the welfare of our Soldiers.

Whether civilian, dual military, or veterans, #ReadyandResilient Army spouses routinely put the welfare of Soldiers, their Families and our country above their own. They keep the force moving, and are one of our Army’s greatest assets.

The U.S. Army celebrates Military Spouse Appreciation Day on 7 May 2021 to recognize Army spouses for their strength, loyalty and commitment to Soldiers and today's Army.

Pictured is Battalion Commander LTC Kenton Barber with wife COL Viseth Ngauy, and Battalion CSM Miller with wife Catrina Miller (now retired, thank you for your service Maam!) #PhoenixOhana
