Here's a bit of information about NO MOW MAY. Because of all our rain, lawns are growing pretty fast and it may be hard to get all the way through the month without mowing, but there are good reasons for holding off as long as we can....... the grass at the Medomak House is getting high, but it's at least partly intentional!

"This May, many communities are participating in the growing No Mow May movement, an initiative encouraging people to pause mowing and allow flowering plants to emerge naturally. By letting lawns grow a little longer, we can provide food and shelter for bees, butterflies, and other pollinators during a critical moment in their development."

It's EARTH DAY. It's a good day to think about gardens, even if it's pretty cold around here - maybe especially because it's pretty cold around here. At Medomak Exchange we're thinking about the Community Garden we're planning in the space between the driveways at the Medomak House. We have begun the clearing work which will continue over the next couple of weeks. If you would like to volunteer with the intended Common Garden or if you would like a small plot to plant for yourself/family, send an email to [email protected] and we'll give you more details.

One of the things that happens around here is an Interspiritual Meditation gathering at 9:00 every Monday morning on Zoom. It's a Medomak House offering that happens online. We have been sitting together for about a year. We gather, spend a short time checking in with each other, then share a guided meditation for about 20 minutes, followed by conversation. We conclude about 10. This is not a closed group: if you are interested, comment on this post and a link will be sent to join.

Creating a small food forest and community garden space.

We are in the final week of our Seed Money effort to raise funds for our community garden to be started in the spring! We want to raise $400 to take us over the top of our goal. Funds raised will go towards soil improvement, seedlings and young plants for a small food forest and several garden beds for folks who don't have land to plant but who would like to garden. This forest/garden area will be developed in the space between the driveways at the Medomak House. In this dark season when the ground is white, it can be good to think about the light and growth that will be coming! We would really appreciate your help! Here's the link:
