As we conclude our staff introductions, we would be remiss if we didn’t recognize the many people who work behind the scenes to help make the Wales Public Library a success.

We would first like to recognize Christine (not pictured), whose care and attention help keep the library welcoming, clean, and comfortable for everyone who visits. While her work is unseen, it is certainly not unnoticed. Her efforts play an important role in creating the positive environment our patrons enjoy.

We would also like to recognize Stacia (not pictured), who spends many hours researching grant opportunities and helping strengthen and support the library's future. Her efforts help us identify resources and opportunities that benefit our community.

Libraries are strengthened by the communities that support them, and we are fortunate to have a group of dedicated volunteers who generously share their time, talents, and enthusiasm.

Whether helping with programs, preparing materials, assisting with special events, maintaining our beautiful historic building, or lending a hand wherever needed, our volunteers make a meaningful difference every day.

We are also grateful for the Friends of the Wales Public Library. Through fundraising, advocacy, and community support, the Friends help provide resources and opportunities that enhance library services and programs. Their efforts help us offer experiences and materials that might not otherwise be possible.

The Wales Public Library is more than a building or a collection of books—it is a community effort. Our staff, trustees, volunteers, Friends group, and patrons all play an important role in making the library a welcoming and vibrant place for everyone.

To Christine, Stacia, our volunteers, and the Friends of the Wales Public Library: thank you for your dedication, generosity, and belief in the value of the Wales Public Library.

As we near the end of our staff introductions, we'd also like to recognize the dedicated individuals who help guide the Wales Public Library behind the scenes—our Board of Library Trustees.

Serving as a library Trustee is a volunteer, unpaid position, and we are incredibly grateful for the time, energy, and commitment these community members give to the library.

We would like to extend a special thank you to Lisa (not pictured) for her leadership, guidance, and service over the past three years as she steps away from her role as Trustee. Her support has helped the library grow and thrive, and we are grateful for all she has done for the Wales Public Library and our community.

We are also fortunate to have trustees Carolyn and Keri, whose decades of service and dedication have provided the library with invaluable experience and support. Their commitment to the library and the community has helped shape the Wales Public Library into what it is today.

We are equally excited to welcome newly elected trustee Sue. Even though she was just elected on May 27th, Sue has already demonstrated a strong commitment to the library and a vision for how it can continue to grow and evolve to meet the needs of our community. Prior to joining the Board of Trustees, Sue had already been supporting the library as a volunteer with the Friends of the Wales Public Library, generously contributing her time and energy to library events and initiatives. We look forward to the ideas, enthusiasm, and dedication she brings to her new role as trustee.

Thank you to all of our trustees—past and present—for your service, advocacy, and belief in the important role the library plays in Wales. Your dedication helps ensure that the Wales Public Library remains a vibrant and welcoming resource for everyone. ❤️📚

Next, we’d like to introduce our Director, Miss Kara! 📚🩷

Kara’s educational background includes undergraduate studies in History, Theatre, and Library & Information Science. A lifelong learner, she also completed a certificate program in Art History through the Smithsonian and is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Library and Information Science, which she expects to complete this winter.

Kara is certified by the American Library Association, the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners, and the State Library of Iowa. Throughout her career, she has worked in a variety of library settings, but she feels most at home in small, community-driven libraries where meaningful connections can be built and the library can truly serve as the heart of the community.

As Director of the Wales Public Library, Kara is passionate about expanding access to resources, creating engaging programs, and ensuring that the library remains a welcoming space for patrons of all ages.

Outside the library, Kara enjoys hiking, watching hockey, studying history, exploring New England, shopping, and serving as the steward of her nearly 300-year-old home.

Next up in our staff introductions is Jill! 📚✨

Jill has been part of the Wales Public Library team since November 2021. She loves helping patrons discover new books, explore items from our Library of Things collection, and create fun crafts for the library.

Jill is certified by the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners and is currently working toward her Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology. Her passion for helping others and lifelong learning shines through in everything she does.

When she’s not at the library, Jill enjoys thrifting, baking, and spending time exploring new finds and creative projects.

We are grateful for Jill’s creativity, enthusiasm, and dedication to serving our community. Be sure to say hello the next time you see her at the library! ❤️

What a wonderful Wales Tales Story Time! 📚🐳

Today’s theme was “Let’s Build!” and we had so much fun exploring stories all about building, creating, and using our imaginations. From stories and songs to movement activities and crafts, our young builders stayed busy all morning!

Thank you to all of the children and caregivers who joined us. Watching little minds learn, create, and grow together is one of our favorite parts of Story Time.

We hope you’ll join us again next week for another Wales Tales adventure!📚🐳

Next in our staff introductions is Tobe! 📚❤️

Tobe is proud to hold both an MLS and an MBA. She worked as a library director for many years before transitioning into a career in insurance, where she owned and operated her own insurance agency for 25 years before recently retiring.

Throughout her career, Tobe has always believed strongly in giving back to the community. She has been a dedicated Rotarian for more than 20 years and has served on numerous nonprofit boards, including the Wales Community Pantry.

Tobe loves reading, walking, volunteering, and traveling. She and her husband Marc, a retired hospice nurse, live in Brimfield.

We are so grateful for the experience, kindness, and community spirit Tobe brings to the Wales Public Library team! 📖
