Good news! The Garrett County NAACP will be hosting another Juneteenth celebration this year! Please mark your calendars now and come enjoy music, poetry, dance, history, games, food, face painting and listen to a civil rights activist who fought for rights in the past and will move us to fight in our time. This important national holiday is a time to reflect on what freedom truly means for all of us. The event will be at the Leo Martin Memorial Park in Mountain Lake. June 19th from 11:00 am to 4:00 p.m.

Please attend today’s pot-luck snacks meeting to form a grassroots Rapid Response Network, prepared to respond immediately in the event of any Federal-initiated emergency, such as declaring martial law, interfering with the midterm elections, or ICE raids. After enjoying the pot-luck with your friends and neighbors, this meeting will feature a presentation of guidelines for the formation of such a network. Bring snacks/finger foods to share. Drinks, plates, forks, and napkins will be provided.
The meeting is sponsored jointly by Garrett Forward and Mountain Maryland Voices.
