The WFD is currently responding to multiple lightening strikes in our area resulting in small fires. Drivers are asked to drive with caution and focus all attention on the roadway as our crews may be working in or near the roadway. Our local EMCs and Power Cos are responding to these areas as well and safety of everyone is always our top priority!

The WFD was ecstatic to be able to join the Liberty County School System for the first day back for the 26'-27' school year. Huge thank you to all the campuses that allowed us to come out to welcome the students back to what is sure to be a great school year!

If you’ve followed our department for a while then you know we roll out a new tshirt design every year.

For 2026, the WFD will be rolling out our CORE VALUES tshirt design along with a completely redesigned back artwork that pays tribute to the state of Georgia. The department’s core values COURAGE, INTEGRITY & DISCIPLINE will be displayed across the chest of all our members to reinforce the traits that drive our service to our community. Stay tuned to see what we have in store for 2027!!

HOT AND HUMID CONDITIONS THROUGH THIS EVENING

Hot and humid conditions will persist across portions of the South
Carolina Lowcountry and Southeast Georgia through the evening hours.
The combination of temperatures in the 90s and moderate levels of
humidity will yield heat indices of 104 to 108 degrees through
sunset.

Those enjoying outdoor holiday festivities should use extra caution.
Drink plenty of non-alcoholic fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room
and shelter yourself from the sunshine. Be sure to help each other
out. Check on neighbors, relatives and the elderly.

This is where great community partnership and hard work meet.

Every year after we conclude our hydrant checks/maintenance, we tally up the lists and reward the individual that goes above and beyond with the most hydrants checked. This year, LT Escudero checked nearly double the amount of hydrants as the next person. Thank you Dawson’s General Store for your continued support of our department by providing a $100 gift card to this year’s recipient!!
