🚧 Concrete Work Notice – September 9 🚧

City crews will be pouring concrete in several areas on Wednesday, September 9, beginning around 6:30 a.m.

NO PARKING will be in effect beginning at 6:00 a.m. in the following work areas:

• North side of Canterbury Drive between Gardinia Drive and Laurel Drive
• One location near 913 Canterbury Drive
• Two locations near the curve of River Street and Van Buren Street

Crews will begin work on Canterbury Drive before moving to the River Street/Van Buren Street area.

The streets will remain open to traffic during the work. Motorists traveling through these areas are asked to use caution, slow down, and be mindful of City crews and equipment.

No Parking signs will be posted in advance. Please refer to the attached maps for the specific work locations.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation while this work is completed.

PJM HOT WEATHER & MAXIMUM GENERATION ALERT

PJM has issued a current Hot Weather Alert through Friday, September 4, and has also issued a Maximum Generation Alert for today due to high electricity demand across the regional power grid.

Current forecasts indicate that peak shaving may be necessary today to help reduce the electric demand during the highest-cost periods. Thunderstorms are also possible, which could affect when peak demand occurs.

High wholesale power prices are possible through sunset. These efforts help manage the City’s overall power costs and, ultimately, help control costs for our electric customers.

🚧 SR 501 / SR 198 PROJECT UPDATE – SR 501 CLOSURE

After discussions with ODOT and the project contractor, SR 501 will be closed immediately in the project area.

During construction, crews encountered poorer soil conditions than anticipated and were required to excavate deeper than originally expected. This created the need for additional safety measures, including concrete barricades. Because installation of those barricades requires written approval from ODOT, which could take up to two weeks, the decision was made to close SR 501 rather than leave the area open under the current conditions.

Current expectations:
• SR 501 is expected to reopen late next week, depending on construction progress and conditions.
• SR 198 will remain open.
• Barricades and posted detours will be adjusted as necessary as work progresses.

We understand this is a change from the previously announced closure schedule and appreciate everyone’s patience as ODOT and the contractor work through the unexpected site conditions.

Please use caution in the construction area and follow all posted detours and traffic-control signs.

🚧 SR 198 / SR 501 Intersection Project – Upcoming Timeline

The City has received Miller Contracting Group's most up-to-date schedule for the ODOT intersection reconstruction project at SR 198 and SR 501. Several closures and traffic changes will take place over the coming weeks as work progresses.

📅 August 31

Cole Drive at SR 501 will close for construction of the new cul-de-sac. The connection between Cole Drive and SR 501/198 will remain permanently closed following this work.

The southbound lane of SR 501 at Redskin Trail will close for approximately 13 days.

📅 September 7

Stinebaugh Drive at SR 501 will close for approximately 40 days.

📅 September 14

The southbound lane of SR 198 at Redskin Trail will close for approximately 13 days.

📅 September 23

The northeast-bound lane of Hamilton Road at Gardenia Drive will close for approximately 10 days.

📅 October 6–16

Crews are scheduled to prepare and install new asphalt throughout the intersection. During this phase, motorists should expect short-term lane closures and flaggers directing traffic.

Please use extra caution when traveling through the construction area. Expect delays and slow or stopped traffic, and watch carefully for construction workers, equipment, trucks, changing traffic patterns, and posted detours.

We appreciate everyone’s patience as this project moves forward. The schedule is subject to change based on weather and construction conditions.

Street Maintenance Notice:

Pavement Technology will be in Wapakoneta today and Friday applying an asphalt rejuvenator to several city streets. This preventative maintenance helps extend the life of the pavement and protect our streets from deterioration. The streets will not be closed during the work and the streets can be driven on immediately after application.

Work is scheduled for:

• Primrose Dr.
• Poppy Dr.
• Fieldstone Ct.
• Silver St.
• Vine St.
• South St.
• Wood St.
• Infirmary Rd.
• Water St.

Please use caution around crews and equipment while work is underway. Thank you for your patience as we continue maintaining and improving our city streets!

Sidewalk Improvement Work Notice – Thursday, August 27

City crews will be pouring concrete beginning at 7:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 27 in the following areas:

• South side of Canterbury Drive, between Gardenia Drive and Laurel Drive
• Near 913 Primrose

No Parking signs will be posted in advance, with parking restrictions beginning at 6:00 a.m. Thursday. Please make sure vehicles are moved from the posted areas before that time so crews can complete the work without delays.

The streets will remain open during the work. If you need to travel through these areas, please use caution, slow down, and be mindful of crews and equipment working near the roadway.

The attached map shows the planned work area.
