The Warren Senior Center would like to clarify the origin of the handmade cards recently sent to Veterans in Warren and West Warren in honor of our nation's 250th anniversary and to thank them for their service. After the cards were mailed, we realized that we had unintentionally omitted information about who created them and how the project was funded. We have since learned that several Veterans received the cards and were touched by the gesture but were unsure whom to thank.
This project was made possible through a Cultural Council grant awarded to the Warren Senior Center and was the brainchild of Kathy Banas. Kathy, along with Sharon Meli, Director of the Warren Senior Center, and a dedicated group of volunteers, spent many hours creating each card by hand.
The thanks truly belong to Kathy Banas, our wonderful volunteers, and the Cultural Council for helping make this project possible. Most importantly, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Veterans of Warren and West Warren for their service, sacrifice, and dedication to our country.
We would also like to apologize to any Veterans who did not receive a card. In order to identify recipients, we relied on the list available through the Town Clerk's office. As a result, cards were sent only to Veterans who were registered voters and appeared on that list. We recognize that this may not have included every Veteran in our community, and we sincerely regret any omissions. Please know that this project was intended to honor and thank all Veterans in Warren and West Warren.
We are delighted that the cards were so warmly received and are honored to have had the opportunity to recognize our local Veterans in this special way.
