Online interactive, multimedia oral & poster sessions

You know that Stitches was scheduled to travel to Malaysia to host doll workshops at the WFH Global Summit in June. We also were accepted to do a poster presentation there. Alas, the in-person event was cancelled just like millions of events around the world. However, they did host a Virtual Global Summit and we were able to present our poster there. So I would like to share the link with you here so you can see what we have been up to over the last 6 years on the international level!

Another request from St. Mary's hospital in Grand Rapids! They want me to come out and give a presentation to their Citizens Advisory Board on the doll workshops. Let's hope they will invite me to do some programming for them.

When Ruth Bader Ginsburg founded the ACLU Women's Rights Project in 1972, she was up against an establishment that didn't think gender discrimination existed. Today we don't question its existence, but it's still part of the fabric of our everyday lives. And from the Women's March to #MeToo, one thing is clear: We've had enough. That's why we just launched a massive, year-long initiative to tackle discrimination in all its intersecting forms: the ACLU Vision for Achieving Gender Justice.

We're kicking off with a lawsuit against Attorney General Jeff Sessions. His new policy of rejecting asylum protections for domestic violence survivors is just one example of how the Trump administration's anti-woman and anti-immigrant policies overlap to harm vulnerable people the most. But while we're fighting Sessions in court, here's what we need from you:

Sign this petition demanding Sessions reverse his decision to deny safe haven to victims of domestic violence and gang brutality. The more signatures we get, the more power we build in our fight.

Gender discrimination pervades so many issues that at first glance might seem unrelated. In our criminal justice system, for example, women of color are the fastest-growing segment of the prison population. And when it comes to health care, nearly 20 percent of transgender people report being turned away because of who they are. That's just the tip of the iceberg.

It's clear, Gender justice won't be possible as long as racism, transphobia, ableism, and other forms of oppression remain. Over the next year, we'll tackle one of these different forms of discrimination each month. Will you help us kick off this month by defending the rights of immigrant women?

Add your name: Sessions must not remove asylum protection for women fleeing domestic violence. It's anti-immigrant, anti-woman, and antithetical to the inclusive spirit of this country.

Whether you're an asylum seeker, working mother, incarcerated woman, or an activist fighting for change – we're all in this together. And we need your help to win.

Thanks for staying in the fight,

Lenora Lapidus

This summer has been super busy starting in May with the WFH Global Summit in Scotland. We have gotten many great comments from women and men all over the world about the doll making workshops we did there.
Since we have been invited to offer workshops in Malaysia at the next meeting in 2 years, we will need to do some fundraisers again.
What kinds of events would you be willing to attend? Another painting party? Should we offer another Trivia event? Other suggestions are greatly appreciated. Please let me know so we can start planning something for this Fall.
Thanks everyone for your continued support!

This #FinancialFeministFriday, we’re celebrating journalist, political activist, and all-around badass, Gloria Steinem. At 83 years old, Steinem remains one of the most iconic and influential leaders of the feminist movement. Her long list of accomplishments is unmatched —from launching Ms. Magazine after her employers refused to cover women’s issues, to co-founding the Women’s Action Alliance, the National Women’s Political Caucus and the Women’s Media Center. There is nothing in life that Gloria hasn’t embraced, head on. “Power can be taken, but not given. The process of the taking is empowerment in itself.” Gloria’s willingness to take, without asking, has inspired women around the world to follow suit. Thank you, Ms. Steinem. #WomensHistoryMonth

We’re on a mission to close the gender investing gap. Join the movement and get in financial control today.

Stitches Women’s Initiatives has had a busy year. We close 2017 with a bit more donations in the coffers and spreading the word even further than before. Thanks to Sister Love Inc. I made a trip to Georgia to be inducted into the Leading Women 20/20 Society. I met so many wonderful women and informed all of the about Stitches. Some of them had made dolls previously at some national conferences and they told everyone else how empowering it was. It was wonderful! So stay tuned in for our next fundraiser in February or March. We will be attending the World Federation of Hemophilia Global Summit in May, we appreciate all your support!!
