Big changes are coming!! Have patience!

Sorry I've been away from the page. I'm going through some stuff but I'll be back soon!

Tip #5: What types of identification do Notaries accept? Most Notaries accept all forms of government issued, photo identification. This includes but is not limited to driver licenses, state identification cards, military identification cards and passports. The reason that the identification you provide must be government issued? Because you went through all the trouble to provide documentation to the government agency that proves that you are who you say you are and they are the most difficult types of identification to forge.

Tip #4: Why do Notaries charge for their services? Because Notaries have to go through an application process with the state they are working in, be bonded and in the event that your signature is challenged, such as in a court of law, they have to appear and testify to their records. This includes providing their log book and a copy of the identification that was accepted as proof that you are who you say you are.

I'm a little behind on my tips, but here is your tip for the week: Tip #3! Notaries are not attorneys! We cannot give legal advice of any kind! But we can give you legal information. The key is knowing the difference. Legal advice is telling a person what kind of legal action they should file. Legal information is telling them where to find the forms they need and things like the difference between a plaintiff and defendant. We can also tell you why a legal document may need to be notarized. :-)

Tip #2! Beware of fraud! An ethical, legitimate notary will NOT notarize a document that is blank or that they know or have reason to know is fraudulent! They can/will be charged legally!! So if your notary questions you, your I.D. or your document, it's because we take this job seriously!

I'm going to start a series of tips in what to look for in a legitimate Notary Public. So tonight's tip: If in doubt, ask to see their credentials! A good Notary will have their commission and insurance/bond available for review! Just ask. You have to prove you are who you say you are, so should we! :-)

I have been attending my local community college for a couple of years to obtain an Associate's of Applied Science in Legal Assistant Studies. I will walk across that stage on May 13, 2016. If any of you are aware of a law office with an opening for an entry level legal assistant, please point them my way or give me a heads up so I can send my resume. I'm itching to get going!! :-D Thanks in advance!
