The City of Detroit Detroit is the largest city in the state of Michigan and the seat of Wayne County. Detroit is a major port city on the Detroit River, in the Midwest region of the United States.

It is disappointing the City of Detroit supported a petitioned idea to restrict commuting throughput via Jefferson for a seasonal bike lane. I have been observing this bike lane for the last year as a regular commuter. Monday – Friday a.m. and p.m. I could count the number of bikers I saw all summer on my collective digits during these timeframes. I and my fellow commuters endure the increased congestion, the traffic clogs when accidents occur, the rerouting when the fire department blocks lanes, the police pull overs, and of course the never-ending cycle of construction reducing the now 2 lanes of traffic to 1. 12 months of weekly congestion for 3 months of occasional bicycling. The traffic lights were never retimed as an attempt to assist traffic flow. The corner of Chalmers and Jefferson is a waste of time. Need to pluck your eyebrows? Chalmers and Jefferson. Floss your teeth? Chalmers and Jefferson. Shave your five o’clock shadow? Chalmers and Jefferson is your oasis. 35 minutes to drive 8 miles…
