Yesterday, 150 bunches of our Vermont-grown hydrangeas, 400 sunflowers, and 30 bunches of beautiful berried Viburnum dentatum left the farm for The Floral Reserve in Providence, RI.
But this delivery means a little more to me than the numbers.
I’ve known Semia for more than 25 years. She was one of the very first floral designers to take a chance on having our peonies shipped directly from the farm, back when what we were doing was still pretty unusual.
Her support and enthusiasm helped give Mountain Flower Farm credibility in those early years. Over the decades since, we’ve watched each other’s businesses grow, helped one another when we could, and shared a belief that extraordinary flowers—and the people who grow and design with them—are worth supporting.
Today, what Semia has built at The Floral Reserve is pretty special: a place where New England’s floral professionals can find exceptional flowers from local and regional farms alongside carefully curated material from farther afield.
And right now, quite a lot of Mountain Flower Farm is sitting in her cooler. 😊
If you’re a floral designer in Providence, Boston, Newport, or anywhere within reach of The Floral Reserve, go see Semia and her team. The hydrangeas are at their summer peak, the sunflowers are beautiful, and those berried Viburnum dentatum are something you won’t see every day.
Buy good flowers. Support good flower people. Keep the circle going. 🌿
