ACT Aspire will be given to all students in grades 3-8 over three days this month. Writing and English will be given on Tuesday, April 28. Reading will be administered on Wednesday, April 29. Mathematics will be given on Thursday April 30, and Science may also be administered. It is important to remember that this is a timed test! High School Orientation is this week!! Can you believe our 8th graders are getting ready to go to high school? Orientation for rising freshman is Thursday, March 19th at Midland Valley High School. Please plan to arrive at 5:45 pm. You must sign in at the door with Mrs. Winchester. Students and parents are invited to attend.

We miss her already!  Now we are looking forward to a speedy recovery!

‘We love Lindsey’: Student gets moving send-off before surgery

We miss her already! Now we are looking forward to a speedy recovery!

After about seven hours in the operating room at the GRU Medical Center on Monday, Lindsey Fulmer is doing well after doctors completed major surgery to combat scoliosis, a genetic disorder that affects the spine.

Don't forget our awards assemblies on Friday morning! The 8th grade assembly begins at 8:10 am. The 7th grade assembly begins at 9:00 am. The 6th grade assembly begins at 10:00 am. We honor all students who have A's and B's for the second nine weeks. On your child's report card, this would be the grades in the Q2 column. We are so proud of our honor roll students!!

Seth and Nolan will go on to compete in the next level on Wednesday, January 14th.

We are so proud of all of our students that competed in the spelling bee today! They all did an excellent job!

Welcome back to school!! Happy 2015!! Here are some reminders for the upcoming weeks:

Tuesday, January 13th is the last day of the second nine weeks. On January 14th, we will start second semester. The only changes to schedules will be exploratory classes. Not all exploratory classes will switch. Please refer to the schedule your child will bring home next week.

Friday, January 16th is a teacher work day. Also, Monday, January 19th is a holiday. Students do not have school on either day.

Thursday, January 22nd, report cards will go home.

If your child has been diagnosed with the flu, fever or vomiting, please do not send them back to school until they are well. We appreciate your help in not spreading germs!!

We will start collecting for the Valley Empty Stocking Fund Monday. There will be a competition between homerooms. If you donate a $1 you will get a LBC Christmas pencil, donate $5 and get a LBC ornament. Teachers and staff if you donate $15 you will get a free jean week the week of Dec 15. Only five days until our school yard sale! It's not too late If you have items to donate or would like to rent a table for $25 to sell your own items. We're planning yard sale items, bake sales, crafts by Angela Griffith Aletky, silent auction (great gift ideas), face painting, hair bows, LBC personalized items and coupon books. Don't miss it!!! Monday, October 27th, is parent-teacher conference day. Students do not have school. Teachers will be here from 12 - 6 pm. You may come by and pick up your child's report card. Teachers will be available for brief conferences.

Fall Dance is today!! We will be having our Fall dance from 6-8 today. Admission is $3. There will be snacks and drinks for sale during the dance. This is a casual dance and school dress code rules apply. When picking your child up, please remain in the car line and put their name on your passenger window.

Chaperone and Volunteer Mandatory Training: Anyone who wishes to volunteer at our school and/or be a chaperone for a field trip must attend a training session. We will hold two trainings in order for you to choose the one that best fits in your schedule. The session lasts 20-30 minutes.

The first training session will take place on Monday, September 22nd at 8:00 am. If you are unable to attend this session, we will have another one on Tuesday, October 3rd at 8:00 am.

Both of these sessions are scheduled on the day of a field trip. They will take place immediately prior to the departure time. Hopefully, that will make it more convenient for parents to attend.

Thank you to ALL of our chaperones and volunteers!! We could not do field trips or many other events without your help.

Interim reports go home on Thursday. Parents, please remind your students to show you their interims. All interims are to be signed by a parent/guardian and returned to the teacher.

MAP Testing begins today! Students need to get a good night's rest, eat a healthy breakfast, and be at school every day. Remind your child to do their best on their MAP tests!!

Please remember: if your child is absent from school, they must bring a note to the attendance office when they return. A parent note or doctor's note is acceptable.
