PSA: Parent, PLEASE stop pointing at law enforcement and telling your kids "if you act up, that cop is going to take you to jail!". Not only is wildly inaccurate and inappropriate, it begins to tell your kids that law enforcement is to be feared. If, Lord forbid, your child gets lost, and they see a law enforcement officer, they will be less likely to approach us and even might run away from us if we approach them. We are here to serve our communities, and that is hard to do if the next generation has a negative association of law enforcement. Please educate your children. We are here to help, not harm.

An historic day in Luzerne County!

Congratulations to Genesis C. Arias on her appointment as Sheriff of Luzerne County.

Sheriff Arias is the first woman to serve in this position in Luzerne County, and the first Hispanic woman to serve as Sheriff anywhere in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Our hearts go out to our friends at the Pennsylvania State Police and the friends and family of this trooper. Rest easy, we will take the next watch.

The Department is deeply saddened to announce the loss of a dedicated member of our ranks, Trooper Michael E. Pahira, Jr. He was assigned as a Motor Carrier Inspector at PSP Frackville and was killed in the line of duty on July 1. Read more at bit.ly/PSP-MEP26.
