COVID-19 reminded us how important it is to have a stable place to call home. When the virus hit, we were all told to stay safe by staying home — but, what if you didn't have a home? Housing is a right, not a privilege. Together, we can address the homelessness crisis.

This week HUD launched a new initiative, #HouseAmerica. The launch was just the beginning — now we get to work. House America calls on state, local, and tribal leaders to use the historic investments in President Biden's American Rescue Plan to tackle homelessness.

We have two goals:

First, to re-house households experiencing homelessness.
Second, to add new units of affordable housing into the development pipeline by December 31, 2022.

We know these are ambitious goals, but we have faith that our partners are up to the task. Visit http://hud.gov/house_america.

It was great to join Congressman James E. Clyburn and Mayor Steve Benjamin yesterday in Columbia, South Carolina, to highlight the importance of vaccinations and discuss housing-related issues. Together, we can overcome this pandemic and expand access to stable & resilient housing for all.

I am deeply disappointed by the Supreme Court’s ruling on the CDC’s eviction moratorium. With this decision, the Court has put millions of Americans at risk of losing their homes-even as the Delta variant heightens their risk of exposure to COVID-19. Many of these Americans are among our most vu...
