COVID-19 reminded us how important it is to have a stable place to call home. When the virus hit, we were all told to stay safe by staying home — but, what if you didn't have a home? Housing is a right, not a privilege. Together, we can address the homelessness crisis.
This week HUD launched a new initiative, #HouseAmerica. The launch was just the beginning — now we get to work. House America calls on state, local, and tribal leaders to use the historic investments in President Biden's American Rescue Plan to tackle homelessness.
We have two goals:
First, to re-house households experiencing homelessness.
Second, to add new units of affordable housing into the development pipeline by December 31, 2022.
We know these are ambitious goals, but we have faith that our partners are up to the task. Visit http://hud.gov/house_america.
