Air Quality Alert has been issued for Thurston County from 12pm Monday August 3 through 5pm Wednesday August 5 due to expected wildfire smoke from regional
fires.
Air quality conditions are expected to worsen throughout the
day today as smoke begins to mix down to the surface.

Particulate matter (PM2.5) concentrations may reach UNHEALTHY FOR SENSITIVE GROUPS. When air quality is UNHEALTHY FOR SENSITIVE GROUPS, individuals with health concerns and pre-existing conditions should reduce exposure and take precautions. This means limiting time outside, avoiding strenuous activity, and following tips for cleaner indoor air.

Visit pscleanair.gov and orcaa.org/news-notices for current conditions, updates, and more information.

Last night, Governor Bob Ferguson made a formal request for an expedited emergency declaration for the Spokane fires. Our ENTIRE delegation is urging the President to approve that request immediately.

All of us are working together to make sure Eastern & Central WA get more help ASAP.

Smoke from 50 large and uncontained wildfires in the Pacific Northwest, including from what may be Washington’s most destructive fire in state history near Spokane, will fill the skies this week.

It is absolutely unacceptable that Secretary Hegseth removed the names of four fallen U.S. service members from the official casualty list for the Iran War.

New Dems—led by Congresswoman Marilyn Strickland & Rep. Pat Ryan—are demanding that their names be immediately restored.

I had the chance to visit one of Seattle Children's clinics serving families, ensuring that every child can access care and have the childhoods they deserve.

We spoke about the cuts to Apple Health in the Big Ugly Bill, and how losing funds is impacting their services.

When President Lyndon B. Johnson signed Medicare and Medicaid into law 61 years ago, he affirmed every American’s right to quality and affordable health care – no matter their age or circumstance.

When Donald Trump and Republicans passed their big ugly bill, they made the largest ever cuts to Americans’ health care – all to shower their wealthy donors with tax giveaways.

House Democrats are united in the fight to strengthen and protect Medicare and Medicaid.

TRA Medical Imaging has provided Thurston County and the entire with quality preventive healthcare for over a century. As the cost of care skyrockets for patients and providers, I visited their Olympia clinic to discuss how federal policies can help lower healthcare costs.

Veterans Service Officers are a critical resource for our servicemembers.

I met with local VSOs in Thurston County to hear about their experiences with the VA and what I can do to make it easier for them to access support for the veterans they represent.

Congresswoman Doris O. Matsui and I led our colleagues in a letter to the Trump Administration warning that their new rule will have extreme consequences on the rare disease community.
