Saving Promise

Saving Promise Saving Promise is a national nonprofit advocacy organization dedicated to intimate partner violence It wasnโ€™t the last time he hit me, and it only got worse.

The Saving Promise Story

When I was just sixteen years old, I became a statistic, 1 in 4 teens to experience dating violence, when my boyfriend split my lip and blackened my eye in a jealous rage. His abuse escalated to a point that he even kicked me in my pregnant belly, endangering the life of the precious gift inside.I was the third generation of women in my family to be trapped in the never-e

nding cycle of violence. Twenty two years later, my daughter became the fourth when her boyfriend tried to kill her and threatened the life of their baby girl, Promise. I decided right then and there, I would not let Promise be the fifth. With a family history of four generations of mothers and daughters (my grandmother, my mother, myself and my daughter) that suffered and survived 60+ years of domestic violence, I have vowed to break the cycle of violence in my family, and make a difference for others as well. Saving Promise is the hope for a safe and secure future for our children, our grandchildren, and all those who will follow.

This was the question that keeps playing in my mind. Itโ€™s been 10 years since I graduated. I have achieved the success I dreamed of as a volunteer however, itโ€™s still in my heart the desire of becoming an engineer.

But something happened one busy working day. Iโ€™m working at that time and I heard a voice saying: ๐™”๐™ค๐™ช ๐™ ๐™š๐™š๐™ฅ ๐™ค๐™ฃ ๐™ฅ๐™ง๐™–๐™ฎ๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™œ ๐™–๐™—๐™ค๐™ช๐™ฉ ๐™—๐™š๐™˜๐™ค๐™ข๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™œ ๐™–๐™ฃ ๐™š๐™ฃ๐™œ๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™š๐™š๐™ง, ๐™—๐™ช๐™ฉ ๐™–๐™ง๐™š ๐™ฎ๐™ค๐™ช ๐™™๐™ค๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™œ ๐™จ๐™ค๐™ข๐™š๐™ฉ๐™๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™œ ๐™ฉ๐™ค ๐™–๐™˜๐™๐™ž๐™š๐™ซ๐™š ๐™ž๐™ฉ? Then, there are goosebumps!!! What an awakening question. Without hesitations, I set aside the work that I am doing and called the review center to check the schedule of review for the Registered Electrical Engineering Board Examination.

To cut this long story short, a breakthrough happened! After months of review, I finally passed the board examination!

Let me share with you these

1. Put value to your goal. Always seek feedback so youโ€™ll know how you are progressing.

2. Let go of the age excusitis or the failure disease of never being the right age.

3. Reduce that feeling of overwhelm and feeling behind.

4. Create conditions for growth.

5. Make use of fractal reading. Listen to an author interview, watch an author presentation read book summaries.

6. Set the right support system

7. Have a deeper connection with your Creator.

According to writer Joseph Epstein, โ€œ81 percent of Americans feel that they have a book in them โ€” and should write it.โ€ Thatโ€™s approximately 200 million people who aspire to authorship. Excluding those who want and never do, and those who do but never publish, weโ€™re still looking at millions of folks hungry for the literary limelight.

Saving Promise is dedicated to ending intimate partner violence. Learn how you can help make an impact.
I had such an inspiring conversation with LY Marlow, author, speaker, coach, and founder of Saving Promise, an organization dedicated to preventing and ending the cycle of domestic abuse.

L.Y. says that all of her effortsโ€”trying to raise money and trying to change the trajectory around abuseโ€”is to get people to focus on prevention, rather than reacting once the abuse has happened. She advises listeners to, โ€œTry to find the gift, the lesson or the blessing in whatever youโ€™re struggling with.โ€

Listen to my Smart, Amazing conversation with L.Y. I promise you, it will open your eyes to the lasting impact of domestic violence and reveal ways in which passion can finally end the cycle. https://www.drnancyoreilly.com/how-passion-can-prevent-and-finally-end-the-cycle-of-abuse/
