Saving Promise is a national nonprofit advocacy organization dedicated to intimate partner violence It wasnโt the last time he hit me, and it only got worse.
The Saving Promise Story
When I was just sixteen years old, I became a statistic, 1 in 4 teens to experience dating violence, when my boyfriend split my lip and blackened my eye in a jealous rage. His abuse escalated to a point that he even kicked me in my pregnant belly, endangering the life of the precious gift inside.I was the third generation of women in my family to be trapped in the never-e
nding cycle of violence. Twenty two years later, my daughter became the fourth when her boyfriend tried to kill her and threatened the life of their baby girl, Promise. I decided right then and there, I would not let Promise be the fifth. With a family history of four generations of mothers and daughters (my grandmother, my mother, myself and my daughter) that suffered and survived 60+ years of domestic violence, I have vowed to break the cycle of violence in my family, and make a difference for others as well. Saving Promise is the hope for a safe and secure future for our children, our grandchildren, and all those who will follow.
