The Administrative Assistant to the Secretary of the Army Welcome to the official page for Kathleen S. Miller , Administrative Assistant to the Secretary of the Army (AASA). The Administrative Assistant to the Secretary of the Army (AASA) has a primary function to provide direct support to the Secretary of the Army.

This mission effectively serves customers in the Army and Department of Defense communities with a wide range of executive services, operations support and business activities. In addition, for Headquarters, Department of the Army, and when specified, Direct Reporting Units, the AASA exercises the same authorities as commanders of Army Commands and Army Service Component Commands, as prescribed by regulation, policy, delegation, or other issuance. The Office of the Administrative Assistant (OAA) manages Headquarters, Department of the Army resources, provides information technology services to the greater Pentagon community, and manages the Army’s historical and heraldry programs. OAA also provides Army publishing and visual information services, records management, security and safety, and religious services for a diverse customer base.

SPC Jordan Adams of Army Graphics was presented the first 244th Army Birthday Ball Coin at his farewell ceremony. SPC Adams is the designer of 244th Army Birthday logo which is used on the coin. The ceremony recognized him for his graphics work and honored him for his insightful conception. SPC Adams' Birthday Ball logo was inspired by an image from the D-Day landing. The silhouettes in the logo are of D-Day Soldiers running onto the beaches of Normandy.

Women’s History Month: Women were first admitted into the United States Military Academy in 1976, America’s bicentennial year. Four years later, the graduating class of 1980 included 62 women. Andrea Lee Hollen was the first female to graduate, based on her class ranking of 10th out of 913 graduates. She would go on to graduate from the U.S. Army Airborne School and Jungle Warfare School. She served ten years as a Signal officer until her resignation with the rank of Major.
