Xceleader is excited to be joining the Global Black Economic Forum stage at the 2026 ESSENCE Festival of Culture on Saturday, July 4. The panel will be held in the Convention Center’s Great Hall.

To every Texas-born, raised and educated Black person in this country, especially those who are forever stitched to the legacy of Texas Historically Black Colleges and Universities, today was made in your honor. These institutions carry on the legacy of formerly enslaved Texans — giving their descendants the chance to go places beyond their wildest dreams.

10 years ago, the beginning story of Xceleader was just getting started. 2016 was the birthplace of the early foundation of the nationally recognized nonprofit organization, Xceleader. Looking back, it is because of two HBCU SGA Presidents from and that took that experience to build an organization dedicated to HBCU students. Thank you to the team for continuing to create a safe space for HBCU students.

Before the speeches, before the stages, before history was made — there was an HBCU.

Rev. Jesse Jackson’s leadership began taking shape on the campus of North Carolina A&T, an institution known for sharpening conviction and cultivating courage.

HBCUs have always been more than academic spaces. They are training grounds for purpose. Places where student leaders are guided to use their voices in SGA meetings and campus organizing before carrying that brilliance into the world.

In 1963, he answered the call. And the nation still feels the echoes of that choice today.

We honor his service. And we remain grateful for our institutions that continue to shape leaders who will positively impact our future.

Mason brings deep experience in accounting and tax strategy, with degrees from Florida A&M University (B.S. Accounting) and DePaul University (M.S. Taxation). A Chicago native and proud Brother of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., he understands the importance of combining excellence with purpose-driven leadership.

As we scale our programs across the HBCU community, Mason’s leadership ensures we maintain the highest standards of financial integrity and compliance—building trust with our donors and maximizing impact for the students we serve.

When Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. needed to rally the movement, he went to HBCUs. When he needed foot soldiers, HBCU students answered. When America needed changing, HBCUs delivered the leaders and continue to support that legacy today.
