NoMa Business Improvement District

NoMa Business Improvement District NoMa is a vibrant, growing neighborhood at the heart of Washington, D.C., nestled among Union Station, the U.S. BID to offer a free, outdoor WiFi network.

The NoMa Business Improvement District supports the transformation of the NoMa neighborhood through planning, economic development, public space improvements, marketing, events, and more. Capitol, Shaw, Union Market, and the H Street NE corridor. Already, NoMa has more than 18 million square feet of commercial and residential space, and almost 40 percent of NoMa’s office space is home to private-s

ector tenants, including major media, technology, and think-tank organizations. Each day, more than 100,000 people are out and about in NoMa’s commercial core. Through a public-private partnership with the D.C. government, the neighborhood will soon have great new parks and public spaces — an important development, as NoMa now contains 4,800 new apartments (with more on the way), and more than 54,000 people work here each day. NoMa is also the District’s most connected neighborhood, with a Walk Score of 94, stellar cycling infrastructure, unparalleled rail options, two Metro stops, and vehicular access to major highways. The NoMa BID organizes dozens of free community events each year and is the only D.C.

The season of giving is a celebrated tradition in NoMa. Last year, thanks to the community’s generosity, The Giving Tree Project raised nearly $50,000 for the local, non-profit homeless outreach organization, The h3 Project. This support enabled The h3 Project to assist clients transition to housing and purchase everyday household essentials and personal items needed to make a house a home.

We’re excited to share The Giving Tree Project is returning this year! Here’s how you can contribute to the cause, and help The Giving Tree Project raise $75,000 this year:

🌲 Starting on Saturday, November 26, plan to get your Christmas Tree from Wunder Garten's Christmas Tree Lot, managed by Sherman Gardens. $10 from each tree sold will be donated to The Giving Tree Project.

🌲 During the months of November and December, purchase the "Heart and Seoul Bowl" from SEOULSPICE ! SEOULSPICE will donate $5 to The Giving Tree Project from each of these specialty bowls sold at its six (6) locations throughout the DMV.

🌲 Save the date for Wunder Garten’s Garden Gala, a fundraiser and silent auction held on Giving Tuesday, November 29 from 6-9 p.m. Stay tuned for more details!

In honor of , Bunch Bikes - Family Cargo Bikes is proud to present their first ever artist collaboration with muralist Nicole Bourgea! This limited edition bike features Bourgea’s “Strong Mama” mural created for D.C. Walls.

Bourgea painted "Strong Mama" to honor the power of women and mothers in particular - "the balance of the tender and the fierce in this ordinary/extraordinary thing we do as life bearers." The portrait depicts her own mother; it also channels her strength as a mother of five and a member of The Lucky Few, the community of families raising a child with Down Syndrome.

Proceeds from sales of the Strong Mama Bike will benefit Down Syndrome organizations, including Down Syndrome Diagnosis Network - DSDN and Ruby’s rainbow,
Bunch Bike’s in-house inclusion programs, and the artist. Learn more: https://bunchbike.com/products/artist-collaboration-down-syndrome-awareness

🎨 , there’s a new mural in NoMa! This weekend, Michelle McAuliffe's mural was installed over M Street. McAuliffe’s design features a colorful array of human hands which spell out “NoMa” in American Sign Language (ASL). Make sure you stop by and check it out, and you can learn more about the design inspiration below.

“Deaf since birth, I often use a cross-disciplinary approach to explore the connections between art and communication. In this colorful mural I designed, I am connecting the bridge between the hearing and deaf communities by using colors, shapes, and, especially, ASL. As one may notice, NoMa is fingerspelled in ASL. The colors and shapes represent all kinds of identities and places, connecting everyone with one single word: humanity.” - McAuliffe
