The discovery of a mass grave containing the remains of 215 Indigenous children has shaken the country. But will Canadians take action?

#KnutsLogbuch

Despite the economic and moral imperative for a “Just Transition”, the concept remains a polarizing political issue in the US, Canada and Europe for the past few years. Workers and frontline communities are skeptical that the transition will be shaped in their interest. How can we bring communities and organized labor together around a vision of a just transition?

Since President Joe Biden took office, many have been counting on his commitment to climate policy and diplomacy. Recent stricter reduction targets of many major emitters, together with China’s commitment to climate neutrality and phasing out coal, give reason to hope that cooperation in the spirit of the Paris climate agreement is possible. Not only the United States, but also its “system competitor” China need to adopt a leading role, and must not allow geopolitical rivalry to interfere with their common goal of climate protection.

New from our colleague Michael Czogalla - "Out of the Greenhouse – Jointly and globally, the climate change security risk can still be prevented" in the latest Zebis Journal, Ethics and Armed Forces

KNUTS LOGBUCH | Zurück zum 'Yes-We-Can'?

As President Biden arrives in Europe for the first overseas trip of his presidency, the time is ripe for the transatlantic relationship to advance an agenda of democratic resilience. The cement for a new transatlantic relationship should be a common commitment to democracy in a world of rising authoritarian challenges.
