The vibrant diversity of Washington, DC’s residents, businesses, creatives, chefs and leaders make the city a more beautiful place to live, work and visit. DC embraces, respects, celebrates and supports the Asian American and Pacific Islander communities, who have unfairly and wrongly been facing increased acts of hate and violence. We stand in solidarity with you now and always. #StopAAPIHate #StopAsianHate

⬇️ An important message from Destination DC’s President & CEO, Elliott Ferguson on DC statehood.

“Why should you care about DC statehood? Because DC residents currently do not have the same political and economic rights as others and that needs to change. We need equality. I live and work in the real Washington, DC along with 700,000+ Washingtonians and we deserve representation in Congress. I stand with Mayor Bowser in the fight for DC statehood. We are DC.” said Elliott L. Ferguson II, president and CEO, Destination DC.

03/13/2021

On March 13, 2020, the District of Columbia shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It’s been a hard year for DC tourism … for our families, local businesses, hospitality professionals, meeting planners and frontline workers. For our community, for the nation, for the world. We reflect on friends and family we’ve lost, lives that have been forever changed, businesses that have been impacted and pain we’ve felt.

But even during the toughest days, we’ve also seen strength, kindness, love and compassion in our city and throughout the country. We’ve gained new perspectives, more empathy for others and gratitude in a wide range of shapes and sizes. We’ve seen living rooms transform into classrooms and home offices. We’ve seen our member businesses shine and pivot in creative ways to keep serving and helping those in need. To keep each other safe, we’ve found innovative ways to meet in virtual and hybrid spaces. We’ve seen the inspiring power of resilience.

As we begin the road to recovery, we embrace a sense of hope and optimism for the hospitality and tourism industry. We are committed to the health and safety of our communities, and strongly rebounding while fostering equity for all. #DCtogether #DCstrong #DestinationDC
