BREAKING NEWS: Florida’s Space Coast Named 2022 Great American Defense Community
Association of Defense Communities (ADC) announced only five selected communities in conjunction with USAA for this year's class of Great American Defense Communities.
“We are simply not the Space Coast without these men and women, their families and the 68,000 veterans who choose to live here, which is why improving their quality of life is among our core values and something we prioritize. We are honored to accept recognition as a 2022 Great American Defense Community and we will continue to work hard to live up to this high standard.”

When member-owner James Burns of Burns Do it Center Clovis, NM was asked to serve airmen and their families at a local Air Force Base through the Committee of 50, he chose to go all-in. Not only has James recruited other business leaders to take pride in the support of Cannon Air Force Base, he has also been a voice to lawmakers and the local hospital to ensure military personnel and their spouses have employment and health care in this rural defense community. The Association of Defense Communities also shares James’ most heartfelt connection to the Air Force:

And that’s a wrap. What a great week at the Association of Defense Communities National Summit in Arlington, VA. Our U.S. Army heard from Federal leaders and community partners leading the charge to support and improve our installations. Special Thanks to our Army leaders Chief of Army Reserve and Army G-9 LTG Evans for taking extra time this week with us.
The Association of Defense Communities National Summit did not disappoint. Senior DOD officials, congressional leaders and fellow defense community representatives shared insights on important topics impacting our defense communities. And it’s always a great opportunity to network.
More fun at the Association of Defense Communities National Summit! Our work hard and play hard!!
We always enjoy spending time with our partners and friends. This week, our CEO Mr. Rob and our Associate VP Ms. Lisa attended the Association of Defense Communities National Summit in Arlington, Virginia. Mr. Rob moderated a discussion with TRICARE for Kids, where panelists talked about access and coverage challenges facing military-connected families seeking mental and behavioral health care for children and teens. Our staff take great care in helping families navigate the health care system and find the best resources. Thanks to everyone who participated in this important conversation!
