Back when the heat wasn't unbearable, in June our Urban Walkers affinity group enjoyed a tour of H Street led by Kate Deneson of Justice Walks DC The tour talked about H Street's history, the 1968 uprising/riots, and how gentrification is impacting H Street today.

Our joy can't be contained! We are thrilled to be part of the new Sweet Caroline Older Adult Hub. We are working together with 8 other grantees to make our work go even further and have an even greater impact on Capitol Hill residents and beyond ❤️

We are spotlighting the CHV Community Drum Circle! One of our many Affinity Groups, the Drumming Circle developed earlier this year and has been meeting regularly---no experience required.

This photo was taken over the weekend of the Circle performing with the Virginia Avenue Park Friends group at a celebration for the Park. This performance was extra special because it featured a player from a local professional Caribbean Steel Band.

The CHV Drumming Circle meets bi-weekly and jams out on Wednesday from 10am to 12pm. Drumming is good exercise for the heart, body, and soul! To learn more contact us at [email protected] or 202-543-1778.

Join us tomorrow night for our June Village Voices featuring Marcus Kyd!

Marcus will discuss how he turned the 3,182 line saga of Beowulf into a 90-minute drama. He performed the adaptation with the Taffety Punk Theatre Company at the Capitol Arts Workshop in February, and that production won a 2026 Helen Hayes nomination for Outstanding New Play or Adaptation.

Expect to be amazed, surprised, and in awe of this epic tale and retelling!

Play ball! Despite the threat of rain, CHV members had a great time last week at Nats Park watching the Nationals take on the New York Mets.

The game was in recognition of Older Americans Month and included a pre game networking event and resource fair hosted by the DC Senior Resource Group.

We hope this becomes a new tradition---see you in the stands!
