Electromagnetic Spectrum Superiority Strategy Released

Today the United States Department of Defense announced the release of the DOD Electromagnetic Spectrum Superiority Strategy.

“The rise of mobile systems and digital technology across the globe has placed enormous strain on the available spectrum for DOD’s command, control, and communication needs. This strategy will help set the conditions needed to ensure our warfighters have freedom of action within the electromagnetic spectrum to successfully conduct operations and training in congested, contested and constrained multi-domain environments across the globe,” said Hon. Dana Deasy, DOD chief information officer.

NSA warns contractors on China hacks -- FCW

Must read for our defense industrial base networks.
https://fcw.com/articles/2020/10/20/nsa-defense-contractor-cyber-warning.aspx

The National Security Agency released details on 25 existing vulnerabilities that Chinese state-sponsored threat groups are using to try to penetrate defense industrial base networks.

What's new here is that NSA is identifying Chinese state-sponsored groups as actively leveraging these weaknesses to target information networks belonging to the defense industrial base, the Department of Defense and other national security systems.

"We hear loud and clear that it can be hard to prioritize patching and mitigation efforts. We hope that by highlighting the vulnerabilities that China is actively using to compromise systems, cybersecurity professionals will gain actionable information to prioritize efforts and secure their systems," NSA Cybersecurity Director Anne Neuberger said in a statement.

Hurd, Kelly make final push to create a national AI strategy - FedScoop

About time that the United States create a national strategy in regards to #AI, crucial to our #nationalsecurity.

“America leads the world in innovation, but to keep up we must embrace AI in the government, private sector and education,” Hurd said in the announcement Wednesday. “This means preparing America’s workforce, countering our adversaries’ commitment to AI, investing in R&D and shaping the ethical guidelines and rules of AI based on America’s values, not that of an authoritarian regime, like Russia or China.”
