Last Fall John Deere donated nearly half a million dollars in turf management and grounds care equipment that will be used to renovate, restore, and maintain the National Mall turf.

Middle school students from Washington, D.C. bridged the generation gap by demonstrating the Trust for the National Mall's first-of-its-kind WWII Memorial mobile app to World War II veterans on an Honor Flight from central Missouri on November 5, 2013.

: The Vietnam Veterans Memorial was built without government funds. Jan C. Scruggs started the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund in 1979 with $2,800 of his own money and by 1981 had raised more than $8 million to build the Memorial.

Beginning tonight, the will be illuminated by 488 lamps each night at dusk. Tonight's lighting ceremony honors Campaign for the National Mall Co-Chair David Rubenstein for his $7.5 million donation to fund half the cost of the Monument's repairs.
