Intercultural & International Communication and Global Media Program The IC and IM Programs combine the "hardware" and "software" of international communication and media http://twitter.com/ic_sis http://ic-sis.tumblr.com

The Intercultural and International Communication (IC) Program in the School of International Service (SIS) is the oldest specialized degree program in this field in the United States. Since its inception, the program has focused on the role of culture in shaping communication and international affairs. In 2007, the Program diversified its offerings by creating a joint MA in Global Media (GM) degree with the School of Communication. The programs focus on both the “software” and “hardware” of the communication and media fields. IC and GM software includes both the literal software of professional skill development in information technology and social media as well as the analytical frameworks that are vital to the critical thinking and analysis skills of our graduates. The hardware has changed over the years as we moved from print and broadcast formats to ongoing telecommunications changes and evolutions, such as social media and citizen journalism. With concentrations in Public and Cultural Diplomacy, Intercultural Relations, Global Health Communication, and Global Social Media, Technology and Policy, as well as offering a degree in International Media, the IC and GM Programs remain on the cutting edge of the field. In addition to the academic programs offered, the IC is also home to three institutes that are at the pinnacle of their respective fields: the Intercultural Management Institute (IMI); The Center for Research on Collaboratories and Technology Enhanced Learning Communities (COTELCO); Institute on Disability and Public Policy (IDPP). These centers together with other opportunities offered by SIS and being located in Washington DC offer students strategic opportunities for skill development, interning with potential future employers and professional networking.

Hi guys! I'm looking for journalists in Africa to work on a series of articles related to renewable energy development. SIS GSC Elections are here!!! Vote for us! After a year volunteering as Community Development Coordinator and Communications Director in the SIS Graduate Student Council, I am running for President of the SIS GSC for the school year 2019-2020. The students who have met me this year, know how hard I have been working to organize all the happy hours, social events and to create community among SIS students. With this experience and other leadership and organizing skills I have acquired during my professional career, I believe I can be a great representative of the SIS students at the Graduate Student Council. But the best thing is that I am not alone. María Elisa Dugo will be the Vice President and Jordan Bresnahan the Treasurer of the SIS GSC and we will work for more social events across schools, more funding and an international students representative. Luckily, Maria and Jordan don't have to compete with other candidates for their positions but I do and I truly appreciate their support running with me as a team. With this said, vote for me as the next President of the SIS Graduate Student Council!!! And, please, come to me if you have any questions or if you need me to convince you ;) THANK YOU everyone for all the support I have received and for your votes!!!! Here is the link to vote: https://american.campuslabs.com/engage/submitter/election/start/260472
