Join the DC YAC as we support our NYC YAC for a webinar dialogue on Wednesday, June 10 at 5:30 p.m. EDT to discuss how content creators in the heart of New York have been using their platforms to make actionable change with respect to community building and social justice.

Our guest speaker Jaeki Cho, Creative Director and Partner at Queens and Brooklyn-based lifestyle boutique Alumni, is a community leader and frequent commentator on culture. He has developed content to enhance creative and diverse voices in New York City. He actively produces episodes for the podcast he co-founded, $6.99 Per Pound, to provide a platform for minority business and creative leaders to share their stories. Most recently, he spearheaded the #BestNYShirt contest to spark pride among New Yorkers and establish a cause to help Covid-19 relief organizations, which raised $60,000 in donations for The Campaign Against Hunger and God’s Love We Deliver.

Through the lens of being based in the culture capital of the world, Jaeki will shed light on how to create content with a cause and purpose, and how he has strategically collaborated with his creative counterparts to bridge communities in New York together. This event will be moderated by NYC YAC Board member Mia, Saidel, SOC/BA '17. Register using this link to receive the Zoom link. https://alumniassociation.american.edu/CreativeContent

Hello! In February I'm producing and directing my own pair of one-act plays in the Katzen Recital Hall. Playwriting is my passion, but costs are high between the theatre rental, rehearsal space, insurance, set pieces, paying actors, crew members, choreographer, etc., and I'm paying for everything myself, which means I'm just trying to break even. I’m so excited that everything has come together, but I could really use some help making this project financially viable. Here is my GoFundMe page, where you can see some behind-the-scenes pictures and videos from our initial choreography rehearsals. There is also a link to our main website and the ticketing page. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated, and there are gifts for those who are able to donate. I hope some of you that are still in the area are interested in coming to see the show as well. Thank you!
Hello Alumni Family! I am running for office and need everyone’s help in fundraising. We are $1,300 short of our weekly goal. If elected I will become the first African American Sheriff in Loudoun County history and will help to overturn structures that have existed for decades. Your support is greatly needed.
Congrats on being one of the top 10 environmentally-friendly colleges in the US! The party’s $20 entrance fee -- 100% of which will be donated to local hunger and homelessness charity So Others Might Eat -- grants guests an evening of complimentary food and drinks, plus live music and more. This is all in addition to Punch Bowl Social’s signature entertainment, including bowling, karaoke, giant board games, billiards, ping pong and a fully-stocked vintage arcade. Fossil Free AU just launched the Responsible Endowment Fund. If you are a current donor (or previous) donor to American University, or just want to support the cause, please donate. AU has ignored student actions and requests--so we are asking AU donors to refuse donating to the University, instead contributing to Fossil Free AU’s Responsible Endowment Fund. If we can withhold enough funds from the University, then we can compel them to divest their endowment from fossil fuels. The university has nearly 19 million dollars invested in fossil fuel corporations that are destroying the planet and students’ futures; so symbolically, our goal is to raise 19 million. By supporting the Responsible Endowment Fund, you are using your donor/alumni power to support current students and the environmental justice movement. Visit our GoFundMe to donate and learn more: https://www.gofundme.com/ffau039s-responsible-endowment-fund.
