We celebrate the 23 Peace Corps Volunteers who took the oath of service and began their assignments in Belize 🇧🇿🇺🇸

These Volunteers bring valuable skills in Youth Development and Education and will work alongside Belizean communities to support literacy, strengthen youth engagement, and contribute to local priorities through person‑to‑person collaboration.

Whether it's been 11 weeks or 2 weeks since arriving in country, we're now just 2 days away from seeing trainees become Peace Corps Volunteers in Belize.

On Wednesday, 23 Youth Development and Education Volunteers will officially be sworn in and begin serving in communities across Belize.

To our host families, counterparts, friends, and community members, thank you for opening your hearts and homes. As these Volunteers begin this chapter of service, we invite you to welcome them. Because while they came to serve, Belize is now their home. 🇧🇿❤️

Basic functions of the position:
The General Services Manager (GSM) serves as the General Services team leader under the supervision of the Director of Management and Operations (DMO) and is responsible for the overall management and logistical support of General Services operations for Peace Corps/Belize.

The GSM oversees property management, office and residential leases, supplies and equipment management, procurement support, shipping and customs coordination, office space, and other operational services essential to post operations. The position manages the Peace Corps vehicle fleet, serves as the Peace Corps customs expediter/broker, and acts as the Smiths Driver Certifier, ensuring compliance with vehicle safety and driver certification
requirements.

The GSM supervises General Services staff, including the General Services Assistant and Janitor, and manages relationships with contractors, vendors, landlords, and service providers. The incumbent is also responsible for maintaining Peace Corps offices and residences and managing Post’s OSHA program, including safety compliance, inspections, documentation, and workplace safety initiatives.

The GSM provides operational leadership and support to ensure efficient, effective, and compliant general services operations that meet the needs of Peace Corps/Belize.
