Veterans’ Group Life Insurance (VGLI) has major advantages over other civilian life insurance policies. If you sign up within 240 days of leaving service, you won’t need to prove you’re in good health. Also, if you apply within the 120-day window, VGLI premium rates are only based on age, and not other health factors.

Many know about the Tuskegee Airmen, the renowned all-Black WWII military air squadron. Less known, however, is the story of the Dominican-born pilot named Esteban Hotesse who fought among them. Hotesse served with the Tuskegee Airmen, on the 619th Bombardier Squadron, for over 3 years before he died during an aircraft training exercise. He is believed to be the first Dominican soldier to serve on the famed squadron, and one of the few soldiers born in a Spanish-speaking nation to serve during WWII. His story was uncovered during a research effort at the Dominican Studies Institute at the City College of New York. He was awarded the Congressional Gold Medal posthumously in 2018 for his service. #CarribeanAmericanHeritageMonth
