Business Council for Sustainable Energy

Business Council for Sustainable Energy The Business Council for Sustainable Energy: A coalition of the renewable energy, energy efficiency, & natural gas industries. The Business Council for Sustainable Energy (BCSE) is a coalition of companies and trade associations from the energy efficiency, natural gas and renewable energy sectors; it also includes independent electric power producers, investor-owned utilities, public power, commercial end-users and project developers and service providers for environmental markets.
(2)

In 2012 the Council celebrated its 20th anniversary and marked two decades of advocating for policies at the state, national and international levels that increase the use of commercially-available clean energy technologies, products and services. Industry leaders from the energy efficiency, renewable energy and natural gas sectors came together in 1992 to form a coalition dedicated to creating a more secure and sustainable energy future. That vision continues today as the Council’s industries work together to meet U.S. energy needs and revitalize the American economy. Each year BCSE releases the Sustainable Energy in America Factbook with Bloomberg New Energy Finance that provides up-to-date, accurate market intelligence about the broad range of industries that are contributing to the country’s move towards cleaner energy production and more efficient energy usage (http://www.bcse.org/sustainableenergyfactbook.html).

Mission: The Business Council for Sustainable Energy advocates energy and environmental policies that promote markets for clean, efficient and sustainable energy products and services. Our Vision The Council strives to be the premier organization promoting clean energy technologies, energy efficiency, renewable energy and natural gas to achieve the goals of sustainable development, including a cleaner environment, a prosperous economy and greater energy security. The Business Council for Sustainable Energy aims to: Promote strategies that accelerate the deployment of energy efficiency, renewable energy resources and natural gas Implement cost-effective programs and policies that recognize the environmental attributes of energy sources Advocate policies that increase the efficiency of the U.s. economy and improve energy security Encourage market-basedinitiatives for energy and environmental policies

BCSE Recommendations for Energy and Climate Policy

Before #ElectionDay, BCSE released its Recommendations for #Energy and #ClimateChange Policy.

Our #CleanEnergy coalition's goal is to scale up the development and deployment of technologies which reduce pollution and greenhouse gas emissions and improve our energy system — increasing reliability and resilience, and lowering risks and costs for customers and communities.

These goals are ever more important as policymakers consider the right suite of policies to rebuild and boost the economy and create jobs in response to COVID-19.

#EnergyEfficiency is more important than ever, but #COVID19 measures undermine many types of efficiency.

This column covers the impacts, with expert commentary from Johnson Controls and the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy.

• Public transit, where a bunch of people move together in one vehicle, is the pinnacle of efficiency. Its use has plummeted and stayed down.
• Single-use plastic, by definition not efficient and wasteful, is coming roaring back.

Congratulations to the Alliance To Save Energy on their visionary new president, Paula R. Glover. In the announcement Ms. Glover says:

“Energy efficiency has the potential to help people in so many ways: It’s the most powerful climate solution we have. It’s by far the largest clean energy job creator. And it is the cornerstone for delivering clean energy in a way that is affordable for everyone. This is particularly important for those who bear a significant energy burden, spending far too great a share of their income on basic energy needs.”

The Alliance is excited to announce Paula Glover as our next president. As a dynamic leader with more than 25 years in the energy industry, including currently serving as the president and CEO of the American Association of Blacks in Energy (AABE), we are thrilled to welcome her to the team.
