“O الله protect him the torment of the grave. O الله make him a precursor, a forerunner and a treasure for his parents and an answered Intercursor. Oh الله make him weigh heavily in their scales (of good) and magnify their reward. Make him join the righteous of the believers. Place him in the care of Ibrahim. Save him by your mercy from the torment of Hell. Give him a home better than his home and a family better than his family. Oh الله forgive those who have gone before us, our children lost (by death) and those who have preceded us by faith.” -

Meet Nadirah Pierre: Unapologetically Black, Muslim, and Funny

“As much as I knew that I was Muslim is as much as I knew that I was Black and I was big. So seeing other big Black women show up and show out was what gave me so much comfort,” Nadirah shares. “I was a pimple-faced, dark-skinned girl who was not seeing herself in any of those cute happy-ending movies and television shows. So watching these women, although I was probably too young, was an introduction to me knowing that I am capable and I am worthy.” #BlackMuslim #BlackMuslimWomen

Eid Mubarak to all! As today marks the ending of the blessed month of Ramadan, we reflect on all the lessons learned, all the prayers we seek to be answered, and the well being of not only our loved ones but the ummah as well. While the rules of social distancing have made it harder to celebrate this wonderful holiday together, it is no doubt that it is still a special day for all! ✨☪️ HUMSA would also like to acknowledge the decisions of everyone on whether they are celebrating today or tomorrow!🥳🥳🥳

‪ "America needs to understand Islam, because this is the one religion that erases from its society the race problem. Throughout my travels in the Muslim world, I have met, talked to, and even eaten with people who in America would have been considered white - but the white attitude was removed from their minds by the religion of Islam. I have never before seen sincere and true brotherhood practiced by all colors together, irrespective of their color." #HUMSA #MALCOLMXDAY #IAMMALCOLMX #FAITHSERVICEJUSTICE ILYASAH SHABAZZ Malcolm X & Dr. Betty Shabazz Memorial and Educational Center

Lady Fatou!

Lady Fatou!

🇬🇲🇺🇸Fatou Sankare is a PhD candidate in Cybersecurity. She graduated Summa Cum Laude, from Howard University with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a minor in Arabic. This May, she received a Master of Science degree in Cybersecurity from Fordham University. Her focus during the program was on network, privacy and data. She is passionate about inspiring young people, especially first-generation students to continue their journey and continue to shatter glass ceilings.

Also, she is committed to understanding the problems in the education system and its effects on students ending up in prisons. She hopes to create a program where schools will have access to psychologists and guidance counselors to help teachers address an issue with a student's behavior before suspending them. She states, “Using my background in political science,I want to recreate educational policies from zero-tolerance to a welcoming and understanding environment. As a result, I want to eliminate the use of police officers detaining students and replace it with student peer mediators and staff interventions to de-escalate situations.” Fatou is also very passionate about mentorship and intends to create her own mentorship program for students of color in low-income neighborhoods.

We honor our sister Fatou for her great success in higher education. She is committed to using her knowledge and power to inspire other young people in her community, especially, young Black Muslim Women. Her tenacity reminds us all that the sky is indeed the limit and “Knowledge is power.” #BlackMuslim #Ramadan
