Global Book Bank - Sustainable Library Systems: Two Approaches in Context
A Copyrighted and Trademarked Concept from the @Global Center for Innovation & Learning (GCFIL)
To create a culture of reading and improvement of life skills, reading should be a way of life. In many developing countries there is a huge need for books and libraries but governments have failed to establish library systems. Some INGOs and CBOs have tried different models for providing access to learning materials, especially for young learners, but little has been done to address reading needs of young adults and adults. As a result, the culture of learning is diminishing exponentially, building only superficial interest in learning, which results in low motivation to excel and an eventual low-skills, low motivation workforce.
The Global Center for Innovation and Learning (GCFIL) proposes to develop a dual-approach library system, in two distinct country contexts, beginning in 2019. First, GCFIL proposes to develop a private library system in Bangladesh, where learners are seeking a wider variety of reading resources and references to support learning, beginning in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Second, GCFIL proposes to develop a p***c self-sustaining library system in Tanzania, in rural areas where reading materials are non-existent.
