Transportation is at a considerable disadvantage when a homogeneous slate of planners and engineers do not consider or understand different needs. Women, especially minority women, need to be in planning and leadership positions now. The WTS Foundation is proud to partner with the Intelligent Transportation Society of America and The Ray Highway on Mobility XX.

Mobility XX will engage the transportation sector to develop the pipeline and projects to prove that in five years, elevating women’s roles will pay dividends towards an equitable transportation system.

Our Story

WTS International was founded in 1977 by a group of pioneering women in transportation who realized that women’s careers would benefit from professional development, encouragement and recognition to support their advancement in transportation professions. Now, after more than 40 years of growth and development, WTS is an international organization with more than 6500 members (including women and men) and 79 chapters. WTS is connected to a network of 40,000 transportation professionals. Local chapters generate high-caliber professional development and networking opportunities for WTS members across the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. Through its professional activities, networking opportunities, and unparalleled access to industry and government leaders, WTS is turning the glass ceiling into a career portal.

WTS stands for Women's Transportation Seminar, which was how it was named when founded in 1977 when women couldn't get subsidized for association memberships unless they were educational. But times have changed, and now joining an association is an opportunity women and men can take advantage of to work together and benefit each other in their careers.

We are what we do, and WTS International does a great deal. To fulfill its mission of advancing both the transportation industry and the professional women who are a growing part of it, WTS gives its members all of the necessary tools:

Access. WTS provides unprecedented access to the highest levels of the transportation industry (in fact, many WTS members are top leaders in the industry).

Dear WTS International - Lift a girl out of poverty, give her a chance at life. Please share .I am raising awareness of a Catholic organization, Chalice www.chalice.ca or www.chaliceus.org that arranges sponsorship for children and elders living in poverty in Africa, Latin America, Asia, Haiti and Ukraine. You will see children and elders needing love and support, in the form of sponsorship or funds for education, medical needs, nutrition and knowing that someone cares about them. There are over 50,000 children/elders sponsored world-wide through Chalice. MoneySense Magazine rated Chalice A+ top charitable organization 7 years running, due to transparency, governance and use of funds ie over 90 % of funds go directly to program sites. Refer to website. Tax receipts issued annually. Today I am drawing your attention to Ramil, 11 who lives with his parents and 2 siblings in a plywood structure in the Tondo slum, within the city of Manila. His mother earns income by peeling garlic and his father is a pedicab driver. They do not earn enough income to provide the basic needs of their family Ramil is in grade 5 where he likes Math class the best, and he wants to be an engineer when he grows up. He enjoys playing basketball with friends.Ramil thinks he would like to become an engineer when he grows up. Sponsorship will help meet his basic needs including nutritional /educational requirements enabling him to work through his grades and finish his studies to make his way in life. Click on the picture to see how sponsorship helps. John, A Jay, Enjhay, Naomi, Diana in Philippines are also waiting for sponsors. Pethias, 15 with basic/educational/nutritional/special needs for cerebral palsy, in grade 5, wants to be a teacher in Zambia, lives in a foster home Jose, 10 with basic/educational/medical needs for breathing problems in Bolivia Hajeri, Dieumilene, Xavy, Maithra, Prince, Allizon, Grace and Edelyza want to be teachers; Clinton, Frandy, Misael, Marian, Mary, Madelyn want to be doctors; Brunia, Gaelle, Dieu-Dwige, Christine, Agnes, Wadeline hope to be nurses; Maurice, Samson, Joaquin, Jonathan, John, Jyothi, Delvis want to join law enforcement; Leonard wants to be a mechanic; Ramil, Kenan, Dex want to be engineers; Cristian wants to be a professional soccer player; Diego wants to be a painter; Brando wants to be a veterinarian; My-Kervenswants wants to be a driver; Marc-Edouard wants to be a farmer; Yesenia wants to be a music teacher; Galia wants to be a singer; Luiz Gabriel wants to be a pilot; Jagan wants to be a public servant; John, Millet, Fernando, Milagros, A-Jay, Naveen, Harinisree, Vishiwa, Jomarie, Aratha, Enjhay, Nyuyki, Wadmay, Dhana, Jose are also waiting for sponsors. When the online form is completed, the picture is removed and another picture will be presented. If you wish to sponsor a child who is not on the website, call 1-800-776-6855 (Canada) or 1-855-444-5432 (US) The concern is that a child will leave school as soon as he/she is old enough to work, out of necessity, unable to leave poverty behind. Each sponsored child builds the country. The elderly/disabled need help to dignify their lives and validate their person hood. Gifts can be bought from the website, which empower families to become self-sufficient. I bought my granddaughter animals in her name so a family could start a small business. Farm animals, bicycles, seedlings, fruit trees, malaria protection, vitamins, immunization & vaccines, school supplies, art/sports equipment, water or sanitation systems, transportation fares, milk, household items, sewing machines, looms and others. Chalice presents a Gift Catalogue as seen on the website. Individuals, families or groups may sponsor a child. Kindly share this information with relatives, friends and others who are keenly interested in helping struggling families, especially the children. Melina Dayne RN BN Nanaimo Canada (Volunteer )
