Another year, another convention! So grateful to have listened to the fabulous speakers and meet so many fellow NCNW sisters from across the country! Congrats to the new officers!
As we attend NCNW Convention this year, our hearts are heavy with the absence of our dear Sister Peola McCaskill, affectionately known as Mrs. P. We join together to send our prayers and condolences to her sons WInston and John and their families, and to her extended family, members of Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Inc.
Mrs. P held so many impactful roles in our lives with grace, wisdom, and tenacity. She was a long-time and faithful Legacy Life member of NCNW and WSNCNW. As both the National and our very own Parliamentarian, she patiently and expertly ensured we knew and adhered to parliamentary procedures and protocols for our meetings and elections, encouraging some of us to study for the Parliamentarian exam! At the time of her passing, Mrs. P served as Chair of our Bylaws Committee. Many of us knew that she was the "architect" of our Jazz Luncheon & Silent Auction, introducing the concept to us in 2009.
As we send our prayers and condolences to Mrs. P's family, we know that through her illness and medical challenges, she always remained faithful to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Her loving spirit and legacy lives on in each of us in the Washington Section and the NCNW.
The following poem has been revised in honor of Mrs. P. May she rest in peace.
The Beauty of A Woman
The beauty of Mrs. P.
Was not determined by a man
Her beauty was found in her grace
Not just the beauty of her face
It could be found in her unwavering style
It could also be found in her loving smile
Her beauty was in her thoughts
Not just what she had been taught
It could also be found in her soul
It could not go unspoken or untold
Her beauty was always within her
She never had to entice or to lure
Anyone, because of her presence
It was indeed her whole essence
Mrs. P's beauty was in her heart
Her beauty was always her art

MARK YOUR CALENDARS FOR THIS HISTORIC EVENT!
Today we celebrate the birthday of NCNW, Inc. founder, Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune, born July 10, 1875.
Dr. Bethune dared to believe that Black women organizations were stronger together as one collective force, and thus, the National Council of Negro Women began. She also founded the Daytona Literary and Industrial Training School for Negro Girls, which later became Bethune-Cookman University. Her many accomplishments are too numerous to list.
Please take a moment to read more about the remarkable life and legacy of Dr. Bethune. Let us carry on her legacy by continuing her mission of giving back to the community with our time and service.
