Albanians for America Delegation Meets with Albanian President Bajram Begaj

A delegation from Albanians for America (AFA), led by Gino Mulliqi, met with the President of the Republic of Albania, Bajram Begaj. The discussion focused on cooperation with the Albanian-American diaspora, developments in the region, and issues of importance to the Albanian nation.

During the meeting, Mulliqi expressed his appreciation for President Begaj’s two-day visit to Dallas, Texas, in April of this year, emphasizing that the visit marked a historic moment for the Albanian-American community in the state. He praised the President’s close engagement with fellow Albanians and the powerful message of support that the visit conveyed to the Albanian diaspora in the United States.

Mulliqi also thanked President Begaj for his visit to the Presheva Valley, which followed the visit by the delegation of U.S. members of Congress. He noted that the President’s commitment to the Albanians of the Presheva Valley was warmly welcomed and highly appreciated by the Albanian-American diaspora.

The participants also discussed issues of strategic importance to Albania’s development. In this context, they addressed the Zvërnec project, emphasizing the importance of ensuring that citizens and affected communities have a voice in decisions concerning projects of this nature. At the same time, they underscored that Albania should continue creating the most favorable possible climate for American investment, which contributes to economic development and strengthens the country’s strategic partnership with the United States.

The discussion also covered current developments in Kosovo.

Part of the meeting was devoted to Kosovo’s inclusion in regional and international energy initiatives, including the possibility of joining the liquefied natural gas (LNG) project as a strategically important step toward enhancing energy security.

Delegacioni i organizatës Albanians for America (AFA), i udhëhequr nga Gino Mulliqi, zhvilloi një takim me Presidentin e Republikës së Shqipërisë, Bajram Begaj, gjatë të cilit u diskutua për bashkëpunimin me diasporën shqiptaro-amerikane, zhvillimet në rajon dhe çështje me interes për kombin shqiptar.

Gjatë takimit, Mulliqi shprehu mirënjohjen për vizitën dyditore që Presidenti Begaj zhvilloi në prill të këtij viti në Dallas/ Texas, duke theksuar se kjo vizitë shënoi një moment historik për komunitetin shqiptaro-amerikan në atë shtet. Ai vlerësoi qasjen e afërt të Presidentit me bashkatdhetarët dhe mesazhin e fuqishëm të mbështetjes që kjo vizitë përcolli për diasporën shqiptare në Shtetet e Bashkuara.

Mulliqi falënderoi gjithashtu Presidentin Begaj për vizitën në Luginën e Preshevës, të zhvilluar pas vizitës së delegacionit të kongresmenëve amerikanë, duke theksuar se angazhimi i tij për shqiptarët e Preshevës u mirëprit dhe u vlerësua lart nga diaspora shqiptaro-amerikane.

Në këtë kuadër u trajtua edhe projekti i Zvërnecit, me ç'rast u theksua rëndësia që për vendimet për projekte të tilla të dëgjohet zëri qytetarë dhe i komunitetit të prekur. Njëkohësisht, u nënvizua se Shqipëria duhet të vazhdojë të krijojë një klimë sa më të favorshme për investimet amerikane, të cilat forcojnë zhvillimin ekonomik dhe partneritetin strategjik me Shtetet e Bashkuara.*

Mëtej u diskutua edhe për zhvillimet aktuale në Kosovë.

Një pjesë e takimit iu kushtua përfshirjes së Kosovës në iniciativat rajonale dhe ndërkombëtare të energjisë, përfshirë mundësinë e kyçjes në projektin e gazit të lëngshëm natyror (LNG), si një hap me rëndësi strategjike për rritjen e sigurisë energjetike.

Albanians for America Delegation Meets with U.S. Chargé d’Affaires in Kosovo, Anu Prattipati

A delegation from Albanians for America (AFA), consisting of Gino Mulliqi, Gëzim Rush*ti, and Janinë Memeti, met with the U.S. Chargé d’affaires in Kosovo Anu Prattipati. During the meeting, they reaffirmed the strong partnership between Kosovo and the United States and emphasized the importance of deepening cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

Discussions focused on opportunities to expand economic cooperation, increase U.S. investment in Kosovo, advance the energy sector—including liquefied natural gas (LNG) projects—and create new jobs through strategic investments.

The AFA representatives stressed that a Kosovo with strong institutions and a stable government is essential for strengthening investor confidence, advancing economic development, and further deepening the partnership with the United States.

In this context, the AFA delegation called for the resumption of the U.S.–Kosovo Strategic Dialogue as a mechanism that would enable deeper, long-term coordination in the areas of security, the economy, energy, investment, and institutional development.

The delegation also highlighted the indispensable role of the Albanian-American community in strengthening relations between Kosovo and the United States. It underscored the community’s longstanding contribution to building bridges of cooperation between the two countries and promoting new opportunities for economic development and investment.

The AFA delegation expressed its gratitude for the United States’ continued support for Kosovo and reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to further strengthening Kosovo–U.S. relations and advancing shared interests.

Delegacioni i organizatës Albanians for America (AFA), i përbërë nga Gino Mulliqi, Gëzim Rush*ti dhe Janinë Memeti, zhvilloi një takim me të Ngarkuarën me Punë të Shteteve të Bashkuara të Amerikës në Kosovë, Anu Prattipati. Gjatë takimit, palët riafirmuan partneritetin e fuqishëm ndërmjet Kosovës dhe Shteteve të Bashkuara dhe theksuan rëndësinë e thellimit të bashkëpunimit në fushat me interes të përbashkët.

Diskutimet u përqendruan në mundësitë për zgjerimin e bashkëpunimit ekonomik, rritjen e investimeve amerikane në Kosovë, avancimin e sektorit të energjisë, përfshirë projektet e gazit natyror të lëngshëm (LNG), si dhe krijimin e vendeve të reja të punës përmes investimeve strategjike.

Përfaqësuesit e AFA-së theksuan se një Kosovë me institucione të fuqishme dhe qeverisje të qëndrueshme është thelbësore për forcimin e besimit të investitorëve, avancimin e zhvillimit ekonomik dhe thellimin e mëtejshëm të partneritetit me Shtetet e Bashkuara.

Në këtë kontekst, delegacioni i AFA-së bëri thirrje për rifillimin e Dialogut Strategjik Kosovë–SHBA, si një mekanizëm që do të mundësonte një koordinim më të thellë dhe afatgjatë në fushat e sigurisë, ekonomisë, energjisë, investimeve dhe zhvillimit institucional.

Delegacioni theksoi gjithashtu rolin e pazëvendësueshëm të komunitetit shqiptaro-amerikan në forcimin e marrëdhënieve ndërmjet Kosovës dhe Shteteve të Bashkuara. Ai nënvizoi kontributin e kahershëm të këtij komuniteti në ndërtimin e urave të bashkëpunimit ndërmjet dy vendeve dhe në krijimin e mundësive të reja për zhvillim ekonomik dhe investime.

AFA Delegation Meets with Prime Minister Kurti

A delegation from Albanians for America (AFA), consisting of Gino Mulliqi, Gëzim Rush*ti, and Janinë Memeti, met with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, to discuss current developments in the country, relations between Kosovo and the United States, and strategic issues concerning Kosovo’s future, including advancing Kosovo’s path toward NATO membership.

During the meeting, the AFA delegation reaffirmed its support for the resumption of the Kosovo–U.S. Strategic Dialogue as a mechanism that could further strengthen cooperation in the areas of security, the economy, energy, and institutional development.

The AFA delegation also discussed opportunities for developing strategic economic and energy projects, with particular emphasis on the liquefied natural gas (LNG) project as an opportunity to diversify Kosovo’s energy sources, enhance energy security, and create new opportunities for investment and economic growth.

AFA representatives emphasized the important role of the Albanian-American community in strengthening relations between Kosovo and the United States, as well as the organization’s commitment to continuing to advance shared interests and deepen the ties between the two countries.

In this context, both sides underscored the importance of continued joint efforts to further strengthen Kosovo–U.S. relations and advance Kosovo’s strategic objectives on its path toward Euro-Atlantic integration.

Delegacioni i organizatës Albanians for America (AFA), i përbërë nga Gino Mulliqi, Gëzim Rush*ti dhe Janinë Memeti, zhvilloi një takim me kryeministrin e Republikës së Kosovës, Albin Kurti, ku u diskutua për zhvillimet aktuale në vend, marrëdhëniet ndërmjet Kosovës dhe Shteteve të Bashkuara të Amerikës, si dhe për çështje me rëndësi strategjike për të ardhmen e Kosovës, përfshirë avancimin e procesit të anëtarësimit të Kosovës në NATO.

Në këtë takim, delegacioni i AFA-s, riafirmoi qëndrimin për rifillimin të dialogut strategjik Kosovë–SHBA, si një mekanizëm që do të mund të kontribuonte në thellimin e bashkëpunimit në fushat e sigurisë, ekonomisë, energjisë dhe zhvillimit institucional.

Albanians for America Delegation Holds Meetings with Kosovo’s Institutional Leaders and the U.S. Chargé d’Affaires

A delegation from Albanians for America (AFA), consisting of Gino Mulliqi, Gëzim Rush*ti, and Janinë Memeti, held a series of meetings with the Acting President of the Republic of Kosovo, Albulena Haxhiu; Prime Minister Albin Kurti; Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Kreshnik Ahmeti; the U.S. Chargé d’Affaires in Kosovo, Anu Prattipati; and the Minister of Local Government Administration, Elbert Krasniqi.

The meetings focused on the importance of continued cooperation between the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo and the Albanian-American community in strengthening Kosovo’s relationship with the United States.

Participants reaffirmed the unique relationship between Kosovo and the United States, emphasizing that this strategic alliance has been built and strengthened over decades through the tireless efforts of the Albanian-American community. They underscored that the history of Kosovo–U.S. relations cannot be fully understood without recognizing the contribution of the Albanian diaspora, which has kept Kosovo’s cause on the agenda of the U.S. Congress, successive U.S. administrations, and the broader American public debate, helping build enduring bipartisan support for the Republic of Kosovo.

The meeting also highlighted the importance of further strengthening the partnership with the United States, increasing support for Kosovo’s membership in Euro-Atlantic and international organizations, and advancing Kosovo’s interests in regional and global affairs.

Representatives of Albanians for America reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to continuing its active engagement in Washington through close cooperation with the U.S. Congress, the U.S. administration, relevant institutions, and strategic partners, with the goal of further strengthening the international position of the Republic of Kosovo.

Një delegacion i organizatës Albanians For America (AFA), i përbërë nga Gino Mulliqi dhe Gëzim Rush*ti dhe Janinë Memeti, zhvilloi takime me ushtruesen e detyrës së Presidentes së Republikës së Kosovës, Albulena Haxhiu, Kryeministrin Albin Kurti, zëvendësministrin e Punëve të Jashtme, Kreshnik Ahmeti, të ngarkuarën me punë të Shteteve të Bashkuara të Amerikës në Kosovë, Anu Prattipati, si dhe ministrin e Administrimit të Pushtetit Lokal, Elbert Krasniqi.

Takimet u përqendruan në rëndësinë e bashkëpunimit të vazhdueshëm midis institucioneve të Republikës së Kosovës dhe komunitetit shqiptaro-amerikan në forcimin e marrëdhënieve të Kosovës me Shtetet e Bashkuara.

Bashkëbiseduesit vlerësuan marrëdhëniet e veçanta ndërmjet Kosovës dhe SHBA-së, duke theksuar se kjo aleancë strategjike është ndërtuar dhe forcuar ndër dekada edhe falë angazhimit të palodhshëm të komunitetit shqiptaro-amerikan. The time to launch the U.S.–Kosovo Strategic Dialogue is now.

In our latest op-ed, Albanians for America argues that this dialogue is not a favor to Kosovo, but the natural recognition of an alliance tested in war, strengthened in peace, and sustained by the overwhelming support of Kosovo’s citizens.

Kosovo and the United States already act as strategic partners. It is time to elevate that partnership through a structured, coordinated, and long-term Strategic Dialogue.

This week, Albanians For America (AFA) was honored to participate on Capitol Hill for the first time as Albania's representative within the Central and East European Coalition (CEEC). Established in 1994, the CEEC is composed of eighteen national organizations representing Central and Eastern European American communities that work together to strengthen U.S. partnerships with the region and advance the shared goal of a free, secure, and democratic Central and Eastern Europe. During our meetings with Members of Congress, we joined fellow coalition members in advocating on issues including Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine, the situation in Georgia, sanctions on Russia, Kosova's path toward NATO membership, Albania hosting next year's NATO Summit, and continued support for Baltic security initiatives. A common thread shared by every CEEC member organization is the need to counter the growing threats posed by Russian aggression and Chinese malign influence throughout our region.

As part of the CEEC delegation, AFA participated in the Capitol briefing, Enhanced Resilience: A View from the NATO Centers of Excellence in the Baltic Countries, featuring Representatives Don Bacon and Salud Carbajal, along with senior officials from Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia. Together with CEEC, we also met with Kristine Berzina of the U.S. Helsinki Commission and held bipartisan meetings with the offices of Senator Chris C***s (D-DE), Senator Elissa Slotkin (D-MI), Congressman Keith Self (R-TX), Congressman Zach Nunn (R-IA), Congressman French Hill (R-AR). These discussions focused on strengthening U.S. engagement in Central and Eastern Europe and advancing policies that support regional security and stability.

In addition to our coalition activities, AFA held separate meetings with a member of the National Security Council within the Executive Office of the President at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building to discuss U.S. engagement in the Balkans and issues affecting Albanians in the region. We also met separately with Ambassador Ilir Dugolli of the Republic of Kosova to discuss current developments and opportunities to further strengthen the U.S.-Kosova relationship. During our visit to Washington, AFA also paid its respects by signing the memorial book honoring Senator Lindsey Graham.

As AFA continues to expand its presence in Washington, we remain committed to ensuring that the voice of Albanian Americans is represented where policy is made. We are grateful to our partners, lawmakers, and our fellow CEEC member organizations for their collaboration, and we look forward to building on these relationships as we continue advocating for freedom, security, stronger U.S.-Albania and U.S.-Kosova relations, and a more secure Central and Eastern Europe.

On behalf of Albanians for America, Doc Vranici signed the condolence book at the Senate memorial honoring Senator Lindsey Graham.

The Albanian-American community is saddened by the passing of a longtime friend and supporter whose leadership and commitment to public service left a lasting impact. We extend our deepest condolences to his family, loved ones, colleagues, and all those mourning his loss.
