AHLA President & CEO Chip Rogers: “We understand the importance of following CDC guidelines to reduce the spread of COVID-19… but with dramatic decline in travel, hotels will face a harsh winter through no fault of our own.”
WASHINGTON (December 14, 2020) – A recent national survey commissioned by the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA) shows that nearly two-thirds (69%) of Americans will not travel for Christmas.

This week’s featured Hotel Hero: Alejandra Cuevas, Housekeeping Supervisor, Hyatt Regency Houston
During COIVD-19, Alejandra’s property was short staffed during Hurricane Laura. She independently returned 230 rooms back to inventory to provide accommodations for first responders. Alejandra checks on staff who have been furloughed and keeps the HR department updated on how her teammates are doing. Her attention to detail, caring demeanor, and dedication to her colleagues and community is evident in everything she does for those around her and makes her this week’s Hotel Hero.

This week’s featured Hotel Hero: Brian Stiglets, General Manager, The Inn at Longwood
As General Manager, Brian has continually supplied the greater Longwood medical area of Boston with shelter and food throughout the pandemic and encouraged his team to support the local nurses and doctors working on cancer research.
Brian has hand-delivered more than 200 meals to five teaching hospitals affiliated with Harvard Medical School and diligently partnered with pharmaceutical suppliers in the region to obtain additional PPE for this team. Each day he personally checks the temperature of each team member and ensures PPE is available for all staff.

Choice, wyndham CEO's say they are trying to help hotel industry .IN a sense they maybe correct. Then why dont they help fanchisees?P at is just doing this so he makes sure his invoices are paid and they can continuing mounting the money and there stocks. No one is in it for others . They are always in it for themselves. If he was trying to help franchisees and the hotels the way he says he is why is there no relief on royalties? Why is there no relief on temp breakfast? Mandated vendors? Its all a monopoly.

I stayed at Comfort Inn, Choice Hotel, Kent, Ohio for a week, when I made the reservation, they neglected to inform me I would have to clean my room, half the staff neglected to wear state required Masks and most of all they leave the side door and back doors open for anyone to enter the Pool area, where we had men coming in, stripping down to their boxer shorts, one getting in the Hot Tub with children, another sitting by the Pool and watching the children. When we informed the front desk, they explained the doors had to remain open for air circulation. BEWARE OF YOUR CHILDREN'S SAFETY. The water fountain the children used was full of dirt and rust and even when told about it, it was never cleaned.
