Dear friend of the Jack Kemp Foundation,

As we gather in the spirit of Thanksgiving, together or apart from family and friends we love, we want to wish you a wonderful holiday celebration. There is so much for which we are grateful, including the memories and lives of those no longer with us. And we take comfort in knowing that here in America, there is a higher purpose, a cause, for each of us to serve, nourished and advanced by exceptional leaders who have gone before us.

Two such heroes are Ronald Reagan and Jack Kemp.

Linked here is a clip from a dinner held in Jack's honor in 1988. A wonderful lineup of friends and competitors offered their gratitude that night for Jack’s service, including Jeane Kirkpatrick, William Buckley, George H.W. Bush, Lew Lehrman, and James Baker. Like these remarkable leaders, we also have deep appreciation for "the cause," captured so eloquently by President Ronald Reagan’s remarks from that special evening. We hope you enjoy his words and are inspired likewise to give thanks for public servants who seek to advance the American Idea. Yes, they still exist.

Twenty-four years ago, Jack Kemp spoke about the disappointment of losing the '96 Presidential race. We commend this speech to you on this Veterans Day to consider the importance of democracy - a cause which millions of men and women have sacrificed for, and a value that must continually be fought for. May we all advance the American Idea so that freedom is passed from this generation to the next, regardless of political preference.

Listen to Jack Kemp reflect on his campaign, conservatism's future, and democracy just two days after losing the 1996 election with Bob Dole.

Jackie Kemp (he didn’t like being called Jackie) and Dakkie Prescott (probably shouldn’t call him that) have some football accomplishments in common. If Dak wants to follow Jack’s footsteps into public service, we’d love to be helpful.

Fox Nation's 'The Jack Kemp Playbook'

Jack had a playbook and his style was based on having ideas to go deep, addressing the greatest challenges utilizing our greatest resources, unlocked human potential.

Grateful to Brit Hume for narrating this and all those who participated. We agree, it is important to know Kemp’s playbook and advance the American Idea he cherished. Unleash our free enterprise system that is harnessed by Leftist ideology that wishes for equality of outcome and crony capitalism that leverages big government and over regulation for dominating markets.

In this article, Quin Hillyer reflects on a few of the 2019 Kemp Leadership Award Dinner's most notable moments.

“Jack was always interested in how to persuade. ... He believed the best arguments you could make were fact-filled arguments. He would prefer a fact to a smear. He would acknowledge that a person who would disagree might have a point. ... The art of talking to people who don’t necessarily agree with you, in present day Washington, is something of a lost art.”

It was an honor to have U.S. Representative Will Hurd and our other special guests join us at the 2019 Kemp Leadership Award Dinner! Check out the live video coverage on our page to hear what they had to say about Jack Kemp and the American Idea.

"There's no limit to what free men and free women in a free market with free enterprise can accomplish when people are free to follow their dream." -Jack Kemp.

What an honor to give last night's keynote address as we celebrate his legacy through 10 years of The Jack Kemp Foundation and continue to work together to make his vision a reality by empowering people, not governments.

Kemp Foundation embraces free enterprise's creative disruption

Check out this timely article in the Washington Examiner featuring our very own Jimmy Kemp!

“This political philosophy of the American idea is predicated on the importance of family and the power of the personal,” Kemp told me.

“People don’t want to know how much you know until they know how much you care. But … government can’t love. People love. In a free society, it is that civil society and our civic associations that provide for people in the community while freedom and free enterprise does its magic to create jobs and new opportunities.”

Jimmy Kemp sounds a whole lot like his eloquent father, the late Republican official and idea man Jack Kemp, and this is a very good thing. The U.S. political world needs to start rehearing the Kempian message.

We at the Jack Kemp Foundation were sad to hear of Elijah Cummings’ passing today. He liked to quote my dad Jack Kemp, “If you really want to serve your party, you serve your country first.” I like to quote Chairman Cummings: “It’s our watch. We will not fail you.”

Our condolences to the Cummings family.

Eighteen years ago, our nation was attacked. Have we built a more perfect Union? We are working on it. The Jack Kemp Foundation remembers the many lives that were lost and the sacrifices of our first responders. Something we know is that these brave Americans who vow to protect and save lives are central to our efforts to strengthen and preserve our Union.

It's worth noting that out of the darkness from that fateful day, our nation banded together. Unity was something that Jack Kemp pursued. At the foundation, we strive to continue this legacy. While much has changed in 18 years, a unified nation is absolutely still worth pursuing. Join us as we seek to define, illustrate and advance the American Idea of growth and opportunity for all.
