Open Season is 5 days away! The FEHB Program can help you and your family meet your health care needs. Federal employees, retirees and their survivors enjoy the widest selection of health plans in the country. Options include:

Consumer-driven plans that offer catastrophic risk protection with higher deductibles, tax-advantaged spending accounts and lower premiums.

Fee-for-Service (FFS) plans and their Preferred Provider Organizations (PPO).

And Health Maintenance Organizations (HMO) if you live (or sometimes if you work) within the area serviced by the plan.

Changes in Health Coverage

Open Season is 7 days away! If you are an eligible Federal employee, the FEHB Program can help you meet your and your family’s health care needs. Federal employees and retirees can choose from among a variety of plans and plan options.

Choices include Consumer-Driven and High Deductible health plans (CDHP/HDHP) that offer catastrophic risk protection with higher deductibles, Health Savings Accounts (HSA), Health Reimbursement Arrangements (HRA) and lower premiums. You can also opt for one of several Fee-for-Service (FFS) plans with Preferred Provider Organizations (PPO), or a Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) if you live (or sometimes if you work) in the area serviced by the plan.

You can use the Plan Comparison Tool to compare the costs, benefits, and features of different FEHB plans. When choosing a health plan, we urge you to consider the total benefit package, including cost and provider availability.

FEHB plan brochures describe the benefits provided by each plan, as well as the level of coverage. We recommend that you review the brochures carefully so that you fully understand the scope of coverage for a plan you are considering. You can get plan brochures from the health plans or on the OPM website. In addition, you can view brief Summaries of Benefits and Coverage (SBC) for FEHB plans to help inform your health insurance decision.

If you are enrolled in the FEHB Program, you do not need to take any action regarding your FEHB enrollment or the Health Insurance Marketplace. You and your covered family members under your FEHB plan meet the individual shared responsibility requirement for insurance coverage under the Affordable Care Act. Visit the link for more information: https://go.usa.gov/xPmrn

Reforming federal hiring practices | Government Matters

OPM recently released a list that showed just 27% of government jobs need education requirements. In accordance with an Executive Order recently signed by President Trump, OPM is working to help Federal agencies implement skills assessments for the remaining 73% of jobs.

In an interview with Government Matters, Jeffrey Neal, chairman of the National Academy of Public Administration, praised these efforts, saying that OPM is paving the way for "much better, professionally done assessments,” that let Federal agencies “identify the real skills that are required for the job” and recruit the best candidates to fill open positions.

Igniting Innovation 2020 Conference and Awards

OPM HR Solutions’ USA Staffing Onboarding was selected as a finalist for the 2020 Igniting Innovation Awards, hosted by the American Council for Technology and Industry Advisory Council (ACT-IAC). The awards recognize groundbreaking technologies that enhance services for citizens and government operations.

USA Staffing facilitates the hiring process from recruitment through entry on duty and is highly configurable to accommodate agencies’ unique business processes. USA Staffing’s onboarding capability was built to meet agency needs for an automated, streamlined, and standardized process for new hires and HR professionals. It is seamlessly integrated with the main staffing functions of USA Staffing, though it can also serve as a standalone onboarding system for new hires not selected from a vacancy announcement created on USA Staffing.

Whether to meet the needs of a crisis or onboarding new hires more efficiently in ordinary times, having a fully online and automated solution in place allows Federal agencies to automate and make the onboarding experience more efficient.

The Igniting Innovation Awards winners will be determined by votes cast during the Igniting Innovation Awards event, which will be held virtually from September 1, 2020, at 9:00 AM to September 2, 2020, at 5:00 PM EDT. Any Federal employee can prepare to vote for USA Staffing Onboarding by creating an account at ACT-IAC and registering for the 2020 Igniting Innovation Awards the on the ACT-IAC website.
