Conference Of Minority Transportation Officials - COMTO COMTO's vision is to see the diverse faces of America equally reflected in all levels of the transportation industry. Founded in 1971, the Conference of Minority Transportation Officials (COMTO) was created to provide a forum for minority professionals in the transportation industry.

COMTO's mission is to ensure opportunities and maximum participation in the transportation industry for minority individuals, businesses, and communities of color, through advocacy, information sharing, training, education, and professional development. The organization membership includes individuals, groups, transportation agencies, private sector corporations, non-profit organizations, and Historically Underutilized Businesses (HUBs).

Latinos in the United States rely heavily on public transportation – NHCOA

According to the Pew Research Center, “Americans who are lower-income, non-White, immigrants or under 50 are most likely to use public transportation regularly. Among urban residents, 27% of Latinos use public transit daily or weekly, compared to 14% of non-Latino Whites and foreign-born urban residents are 20% more likely to regularly use public transportation than native-born urban dwellers (38% vs 18%).”
