COMTO is saddened to report the passing of member, Dr. Deja Monet Jackson. Dr. Jackson was a rising star at COMTO and we were honored to have worked with her throughout the years–from our first interactions with her as a high school student, through undergrad and right up to her receiving her doctorate in transportation and highway engineering from the University of Florida in 2019. Dr. Jackson was a CITY Intern and a COMTO Scholarship recipient in 2018 and 2019.

“Deja’s passing is truly heartbreaking. She was successful in all her endeavors, and we especially were honored to have her intern at WSP and be a WSP scholarship recipient. She excelled as an intern and we soon hired her to work full-time in our Cleveland office. We had looked forward to seeing her shine in her new career as deputy director of traffic and engineering for Beaufort County. Our deepest sympathies go out to her loved ones,” said Tanya Adams, 1st Vice Chair, COMTO National Board and Vice President, Community Relations and Diversity Manager, WSP USA.
