Talofa lava and Welcome to the American Samoa Society of Washington, D.C. Facebook. The American Samoa Society of Washington, D.C. was established in 1977 [July 2, 1977] by the Samoan Community living in Washington, D.C. and the Metropolitan area. The American Samoa Society is a Non Profit & Tax Exempt Organization under the IRS clause 501(c)4; and is a member of the National Conference of State Societies (NCSS). The National Conference of State Societies was chartered by Congress in 1952, and represents the various state and territorial societies in the National Capital Area. NCSS is the primary sponsor for the Cherry Blossom Princess Program in the National Cherry Blossom Festival, which takes place during spring time each year in the Nation's Capital. The Cherry Blossom Princess Program is a week-long program that offers cultural, educational and professional development opportunities for young women leaders, ages 19 through 24 from across the United States and around the world; including the selection of the U.S. Cherry Blossom Queen, to promote peaceful relations with Japan.
