Many of our younger Truman Scholars have been competing for additional national fellowships over the past year—the Marshall, Mitchell, Rhodes, Schwarzman, and Soros.
Of the 48 new Marshall Scholars, two are Truman Scholars:
•Akshayaa Chittibabu (MA 18), a senior at the University of Connecticut
•Dina Eldawy (FL 18), a senior at Syracuse University
Of the 12 new Mitchell Scholars, one is a Truman Scholar:
•Makayla Haussler (NE 18), a senior at Yale University
Of the 32 new Rhodes Scholars, eleven are Truman Scholars:
•Hadeel Abdallah (KY 18), a senior at the University of Kentucky
•James Brahm (AL 18), a senior at the US Air Force Academy
•Jaz Brisack (MS 18), a senior at the University of Mississippi
•Elena Gallina (ID 17), Outreach Specialist at CEED-Albania and a graduate of Boise State University
•Kushal Kadakia (TX 18), a senior at Duke University
•Anea Moore (PA 18), a senior at the University of Pennsylvania
•Lia Petrose (MD 16), Research Assistant at MIT and a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh
•Serene Singh (CO 18), a senior at the University of Colorado, Boulder
•Maddy Tung (CA 18), a senior at the U.S. Air Force Academy
•Claire Wang (UT 18), a senior at Duke University
•Kristiana Yao (IL 17), a Dunn Fellow with the State of Illinois and a graduate of the University of Miami
Of the 56 new Schwarzman Scholars from the United States, two are Truman Scholars:
•Mussab Ali (NJ 17), member of the Jersey City School Board and a senior at Rutgers University, Newark
•Tayler Ulmer (IL 14), a graduate of Spelman College and the School for Oriental and African Studies, where she was a Marshall Scholar
Of the 30 new P.D. Soros Fellows named earlier this year, two are Truman Scholars:
•Ben Chou (TX 12), pursuing a joint JD/MBA at Northwestern University
•Hamid Nasir (AK 12), a law student at Georgetown University
