With November being the official month for the observance and commemoration of the history, heritage, and culture of Native Americans, #NMSHSA celebrates and honors #NativeAmericanHeritageMonth! In doing so, we want to shine a light on our friends at the National Indian Head Start Directors Association (NIHSDA). This Head Start association provides unique services to American Indian & Alaskan Native children and families with the mission to stand strong and preserve their identity! We share a lot in common with our friends as we work hard to teach our children how to embrace and celebrate the culture and traditions that come from being who we are! We encourage everyone to learn more about Native American Heritage and what NIHSDA does!

In his role as Honorary Consul of Mexico to Corpus Chrisi Texas, our Executive Director, Cleofas Rodriguez Jr., has spent the past several days in Mexico City, Mexico, meeting with political leaders, local business leaders, and mole and nopal manufacturors to learn about a historic and traditional festival known as El Festival de Mole, or Mole Fair, that takes place in Nochtla (San Pedro Atocpan) during the month of October. He hopes to bring back some of the traditions and practices of this festival to share with the people of Texas and beyond. There is no better way to celebrate #HispanicHeritageMonth than to learn about our very own culture and share it with those around us!
