Hispanic Motorcoach Council

Hispanic Motorcoach Council A Council of the American Bus Assocation, HMC promotes the continued growth, fellowship & development of the Hispanic community in the motorcoach industry.

A new group of predominately Spanish speaking motorcoach operators have come together to form the Hispanic Motorcoach Council/El Consejo Hispano de Autobúses (HMC) under the umbrella of the American Bus Association. The group currently consists of roughly 50 member motorcoach operators and is looking forward to adding to its growing ranks. We invite you to join us, as the HMC offers support (through networking), knowledge and information related to security issues, safety risks, legislative oversight and government processes and regulations. Our goal is to make sure that each of our members are kept well informed of developments within the industry, delivering each and every one of our members the tools that allows them to establish long-term strategies and success as well as implementation of short-term actions. In short, we are here to help you build your business! As a member of the HMC and ABA, you are entitled to a variety of association benefits that will serve your unique needs: a legislative voice, regulatory watchdog activities, money-saving services, connections to other operators and suppliers, regular communications, an annual meeting, specialized safety training and much more. The membership of the organization is comprised of dedicated professional individuals, business owners and affiliated personnel who have a common interest in providing the highest quality and safest possible motorcoach service to all passengers and are interested in working with the ever-growing Hispanic business community in the motorcoach industry throughout the United States.

Mission: The Hispanic Motorcoach Council (HMC) will endeavor to promote the continued growth, fellowship and development of the Hispanic business community in the motorcoach industry. It will do this by serving as a resource center and forum to promote safe motorcoach operations, encourage interaction among operators and transportation planners, and advocate for Hispanic and Minority owned businesses.

Yesterday Congress made the decision to delay returning to Washington DC next week.

Congress took the decision based on the health concerns of the COVID-19 pandemic in Washington DC. Therefore, we are moving to our “rain date” of May 13th for the Motorcoaches Rolling for Awareness rally.

Based on the overwhelming support and participation of the industry, this was a difficult decision to take.

However, in order not to lose momentum, we are committed to conducting the rally on May 13th.

We apologize for the challenges this presents, however, we continue to be united in our efforts to gain government support for our industry.

--UPDATED-- we are moving to our “rain date” of May 13th for the Motorcoaches Rolling for Awareness rally. Please visit 4/29/20 post.

Great News! There are more than 125 motorcoach companies on board to roll vehicles into the nation's capital on May 6 to build awareness of our industry's essential role in transportation and to seek funding to support motorcoach operators through the current crisis.

This positive awareness event is jointly organized by UMA and the American Bus Association.

There are 3 ways to participate:

· Send a bus or two from your fleet to DC for the rally
· If you cannot send a vehicle, sponsor a vehicle "donated" by a participating company that is able to send more than one. That vehicle can be branded with messaging from your company and you pay the fees associated with the design, printing, and costs of the trip.
· Provide an extra bus if you have one to spare as a "donor" bus.

Freight, Trucking Industry Closely Monitor President’s Threat to Close US-Mexico Border

“We are concerned that if the U.S.-Mexico border closes it will not only have economic consequences from the amount of goods and services moving between the countries that will come to a halt, but keeping loved ones from visiting one another or people who work over the border on each side from going to work will have a devastating impact,” American Bus Association CEO Peter Pantuso said. “Legitimate travel across the border between our two countries should not suffer from political infighting.”

Trucking and transportation leaders are expressing concern over President Donald Trump’s threats to close the U.S.-Mexico border if Mexico does not crack down on illegal border crossings.
