Today voters in Michigan's 7th Senate District primary have a chance to send Jason Hoskins to the state senate.

State Rep. Hoskins made history as the first openly gay person of color elected to the Michigan Legislature. Now he's asking voters to send him further.
"My lived experience adds a unique robustness to policy discussions on equality," Hoskins says of the perspective he brings to the table, one of the few openly LGBTQ+ voices in Lansing.

Representation isn't just a milestone. It's what shows up in the room when decisions get made.

If you're in District 7, get to the polls TODAY, August 4th. Every vote moves us closer to a legislature that reflects the people it serves.

Meet our July endorsees!

This month, LGBTQ+ Victory Fund is proud to welcome 18 new and incumbent candidates to our 2026 slate, running across 12 states in races from city council to attorney general.

Among them:

Janel Fujinaka, running for State Representative in Hawaiʻi's 26th District. A longtime organizer and transgender community advocate from Oʻahu, she'd be the first transgender woman elected to represent the district.

Tara Beasley-Stansberry, running for Vallejo City Council in California. A Planning Commissioner and small business owner, she'd be the first Black LGBTQ+ person to serve on the council.

Every candidate on this list said yes to running as their full self. Now it's on us to help them win.

Three days out, and we're on the ground in Pontiac.

VF’s Daniel Hernandez joined Senator Jeremy Moss knocking doors ahead of Tuesday's primary in Michigan's 11th District. Moss has broken barriers before, as the first out LGBTQ+ member of the Michigan Senate, and helped enshrine LGBTQ+ protections into the state's civil rights law. Now he's running to bring that same fight to Congress.

He's built a coalition that spans Governor Whitmer, grassroots organizers, and gun safety advocates. On Tuesday, our community shows up too.

Patty Contreras has spent two terms in the Arizona House fighting for her Phoenix community, and now she's running for State Senate to keep that fight going. Before politics, Patty spent over 30 years with the City of Phoenix serving seniors and people with disabilities, work that shaped her commitment to the people who need their government to show up for them most.

In a legislature where LGBTQ+ rights, immigrant families, and public education are under constant attack, Patty has been a steady, out voice for equality. She's exactly the kind of leader Arizona needs in the State Senate.
