Team Murphy was proud to host our annual Service Academy Day in New Bern this past weekend.

We had the opportunity to meet with students and families interested in attending one of our nation’s service academies and pursuing a future of service to our country.

Students had the chance to learn more about the service academies, hear about the application and nomination process, and ask questions about what it takes to earn an appointment.

It was encouraging to see so many young people from Eastern North Carolina interested in serving our nation. We are proud to support these students as they pursue this important opportunity.

I’m saddened to hear of the passing of Mike Ditka, a Hall of Fame player and legendary coach who led the Chicago Bears to a Super Bowl XX victory. His leadership and passion for the game made him one of football’s most iconic figures. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones.

SAVE THE DATE: The fifth annual Water Adaptations to Ensure Regional Success (WATERS) Summit is coming to Greenville on Wednesday, October 21, 2026!

I will join Congressman David Rouzer to host this year’s summit, bringing together stakeholders to discuss innovative strategies to mitigate flooding and address waterway challenges across North Carolina.

Through this nonpartisan effort, we will work toward practical legislative solutions and long-term strategies to protect our communities and address water challenges across our state.

It was wonderful meeting with the University City Kiwanis Club!

I will always fight for lower taxes, secure borders, improved access to affordable, high-quality healthcare, our cherished veterans and farmers, and common sense. Greenville is where I raised my family and built a small business as a physician for 35 years. Our country is at a pivotal moment, and we need bold leaders in Congress.

It is always a pleasure to discuss the latest happenings in Washington and the challenges we face with such good folks. Thank you for having me!

I am deeply saddened by the tragic loss of Capt. Garrett Pearson, a Marine who died during a training accident in Florida.

Capt. Pearson dedicated himself to serving our country and protecting his fellow Americans. His loss is a heartbreaking reminder of the risks our service members take in the line of duty.

May God grant peace to his wife, Autumn, their children, Maisie and Hazel, his family, and his fellow Marines as they mourn this tremendous loss.

Eastern North Carolina is home to many military families, and we will continue to stand with them during times of unimaginable difficulty. We are grateful for Capt. Pearson’s service, sacrifice, and commitment to our nation.

This National Primary Care Physician Week, I’m proud to recognize the primary care physicians who serve patients and families across Eastern North Carolina and throughout our country.

As a physician, I know firsthand how important primary care is to our health care system. Primary care physicians are often the first point of contact for patients, helping prevent illness, manage chronic conditions, identify health problems early, and build lasting relationships with the people they serve.

From rural communities to growing towns across Eastern North Carolina, primary care physicians play an essential role in making sure patients can access quality care close to home.

I’m grateful for the physicians, nurses, and health care professionals who work every day to keep our communities healthy and put their patients first. Thank you for your dedication to the people you serve.

It was an honor to help open the Belhaven ICW Festival from the porch of the historic River Forest Manor.

Belhaven has a unique connection to the history of the Intracoastal Waterway. In 1928, thousands gathered in the community to celebrate the completion of the Alligator-Pungo Canal, an important final connection in the Intracoastal Waterway through Eastern North Carolina.

Nearly 100 years later, the waterway continues to play an important role in our region. It supports commercial and recreational navigation, tourism, marinas, boatyards, marine businesses, and coastal communities throughout Eastern North Carolina.

Standing at River Forest Manor and reflecting on the 1928 celebration was a great reminder of how investments made generations ago continue to benefit our communities today. As we approach the centennial of that historic celebration in 2028, it is important that we recognize the role the Intracoastal Waterway has played in Eastern North Carolina and remain committed to preserving it for future generations.

I recently toured Minges Bottling in Ayden to see firsthand how this Eastern North Carolina company operates and the work that goes into getting products from the bottling line to communities across our region.

Minges Bottling has been a part of Eastern North Carolina for generations, providing jobs and investing in the communities it serves. It was great to see the operation up close and meet the people who keep everything moving each day.

Visits like this are important because they give me the opportunity to hear directly from local businesses about what they are seeing on the ground, from workforce needs to the challenges of growing and operating a business in North Carolina.

I appreciate the Minges team for taking the time to walk me through their facility and discuss the important role they play in our region.

I had the pleasure of participating in the Better Skills, Better Jobs Career Fair Kickoff Breakfast in Greenville.

A strong workforce starts with giving people access to the skills and training they need to succeed. Events like this bring together employers, educators, workforce leaders, and members of our community to connect people with real opportunities right here in Eastern North Carolina.

I’m proud to support efforts that help North Carolinians develop the skills they need to find good-paying jobs, advance their careers, and build a stronger future for themselves and their families.
