Dear Community Member,

I hope this email finds you well and that you and your family and friends are safe during this crisis. I am writing to thank you for your generous contributions to this cause and to seek your help once more to continue to support the Algerians stranded in our metropolitan area because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Your contributions to the GoFundMe account amounted to close to $10,000 and sustained 25 persons (individuals and families). This private initiative of Dr. Benhabib and many volunteers had a significant impact on these individuals. Unfortunately, the GoFundMe account is now completely depleted, and air travel has yet to resume. Therefore, these families and individuals still need our urgent help. We are seeking again your generous contributions to help these individuals and families. To facilitate your contribution to this pressing cause, we have created an additional AAAGW-managed fund where you can donate directly using our secure PayPal account:
https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=G6HFW9QHUTDDL&source=url

This AAAGW Relief Fund is in addition to the existing GoFundMe account. https://www.gofundme.com/f/1z7skqdws0?utm_medium=email&utm_source=product&utm_campaign=p_email_m_pd-5332-donation-receipt-adyen&utm_content=internal
You can choose either channel for your donation and as you feel comfortable. The funds from the AAAGW COVID-19 PayPal account will be used exclusively to help cover lodging costs for Algerians stranded in the Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia.

Thank you for all your help and any contribution you can make, however small it might be, is appreciated. We wish you a peaceful and safe end of Ramadan and we hope we return to normal soon.

Dear Community Member,

The Board of Directors of AAAGW wishes you and your loved ones a peaceful and blessed Ramadan.

Ramadan, the month of fasting and acts of charity, came this year during challenging times and it will be difficult to meet and celebrate as we did each year during our Ramadan Iftar and Eid Celebration. The AAAGW Board of Directors is actively exploring ways to meet these challenges and trying to come up with new ideas to implement so we can better serve our community.

We would like to thank all who generously donated to the GoFundMe drive launched by Dr Benhabib to help the Algerians stranded in the USA as well the community members in need during this demanding time. We also urge you to let us know of any community members who are going through hard times so we can do our best to help them.

We hope we will soon have a resolution to this crisis and hope we can meet again soon. Stay safe and Ramadan Mubarak.

Dear Community Member,

We hope that you are staying safe and holding up during these trying times and we pray that this crisis will soon be over.

We are receiving news that there are a few Algerian visitors who have been stranded in the United Sates for quite a few weeks. These are non-US residents (tourists, students...) who are unable to go back to Algeria due to travel restrictions. In addition, a few Algerian-Americans in the DC, Maryland, Virginia (DMV) area have been impacted by this crisis and have lost their jobs. These families and individuals need our help during these difficult times. Ramadan is coming soon, and nobody has an answer about how long this difficult situation will last.

A GoFundMe page has been started by Dr Doctor Sidi Mohamed Benhabib to help all the Algerians that are impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic (non-resident Algerians stranded in the DMV as well as the Algerian-American residents living in the DMV). At the present time the priority will be given to non-US resident Algerians that are stranded in the DMV: for now there is a group of three visitors (one with a health condition) who are housed in a hotel room in Ballston VA and another couple living in a hotel room in Falls church VA. All of them have their health travel insurance expired.

The objective of the GoFundMe page is to collect funds to help directly these individuals/families. To ensure transparency throughout the fundraising and fund distribution process, Doctor Sidi Mohamed Benhabib will personally document and publish the sources and uses of all funds on a weekly basis.

For more information and to help these Algerians in need please go to the GoFundMe page:
https://www.gofundme.com/f/1z7skqdws0

If you have any questions or are aware of any other Algerians in need and Algerians visitors that are stranded due to this crisis please call directly Sidi Mohamed at (252) 864-3564. Thank you for all your help.

The third session of AAAGW Youth Leadership Academy (YLA) was held on Sunday Nov 3rd : Students learned the four distinct stages of team development: forming, storming, norming, and performing. Each has a primary purpose and a common set of interpersonal dynamics among team members. They practiced leading teams using a US coast guard rescue exercise. Everyone had an amazing time.

Peace, mercy and blessings of God the Almighty In confirmation of the Almighty’s saying, “Is there a reward for charity other than charity?” We, Mr. F. Sofiane and his companions (from the stranded Algerians in Virginia) , offer our thanks and appreciation to the DMV Association for all what they have done for us during the holy month ..of which they were compensated for the family , and we also take the opportunity through the association to thank very much the families of the Algerian community here in (Verginia) who compete to provide us the atmosphere of Ramadan, so on the occasion of Aid al Fiter we offer them the warmest and sincere congratulations , may God make it a happy and blessed Aid for them, and for the members of the association and all Muslims in all around the world .
