Access to affordable, comprehensive health insurance is critical for millions of Americans living with pre-existing conditions such as #t1d. The Supreme Court heard arguments today on a case that could jeopardize healthcare principles for which JDRF has advocated for many years. While a decision on this case is not expected until June 2021, JDRF will continue to underscore to Congress and other decision makers the importance of insurance protections for people with T1D and, in the event of a negative court decision, will call for Congress to take up new legislation to address the issue to #DefendPreEx. For now, current law protections – which prevent insurance companies from denying insurance, limiting coverage, or charging more for insurance due to a pre-existing condition – remain in place.
