"Assuming Trump’s legal challenges in several states fail to impact the election result, a President-elect Biden might be set to take office in 11 weeks. Before that occurs, Trump will have plenty of time to prepare clemency warrants for any federal offender he wishes."

#Ambassador > Meet Eagle Timothy Neckermann, a Dayton, Ohio native who is a fall 2020 Washington Semester Programs Mentorship Program DC (MPDC) student and one of our student ambassadors. A member of American University's Class of 2024, Tim is majoring in international studies and minoring in Spanish. Fueled by his career goal of becoming a foreign service officer and working for the German or United States Embassy, he is interning at the German Historical Institute, a DC based center for advance historical research and the largest non-university-affiliated institute for history in the United States. Look for Tim to highlight his internship experience with an Instagram Takeover (IG: @au_wsp) starting on October 26th.

"I want to be able to share my amazing AU MPDC experience with others. After I saw some of the opportunities that past ambassadors were able to engage in on Instagram, I knew that this program was right for me. I would love to be the person that influences future generations to be part of any of the Washington Semester Programs, and I want to make it clear to them that this is a once in a lifetime experience that will help them for the rest of their lives and is not replicable anywhere else."

Thank you for being a part of our stellar cohort of ambassadors, Tim! We are looking forward to highlighting your MPDC experience.

#Ambassador > Meet Hannah D'Arche, a Washington Semester Programs Mentorship Program DC student and American University Class of 2024 Eagle from Seattle, Washington. One of our Fall 2020 WSPs student ambassadors, she is majoring in business and world languages and cultures with a concentration in Spanish. Hannah is currently interning with one of Washington DC's premier bipartisan government affairs and strategic consulting firms, American Continental Group, Inc. (ACG), and we look forward to her showcasing her online internship during her Instagram Takeover (IG: @au_wsp), which starts on October 19th.

"With the help of some amazing staff members, I secured my top internship in a competitive market as a freshman. I am incredibly excited about my role with ACG, and I can't wait to share it with AUs' online community. I want my experience of navigating an internship to inspire the next wave of MPDC and AU students as they embark on their own journeys into internships and the work force."

Thank you for joining our awesome group of ambassadors, Hannah! We are looking forward to highlighting your MPDC/ACG experience.

#StudentSpotlight > "Hey, I'm Sebastian Padilla, a Fall 2020 Mentorship DC Program student from Laredo, Texas, who will start at American University next semester. Admittedly, I am still deciding on a major, but I know that my interests lie in the areas of creative writing, photography, and media production. With these interests, it's natural that my internship with the Marketing & Communications department of the American University School of Professional & Extended Studies (SPExS) is allowing me to learn and do graphic design, a skill that is somewhat new to me. I have tried it with using PowerPoint though. Like much creative work, my internship is a behind-the-scenes role, but you will see my work here on this IG page very soon. Take care, y'all!"

#StudentSpotlight > "Hello! My name is Nathan Dai. I'm a Fall 2020 Mentorship DC program student and student ambassador from Dublin, California. It is nice to meet everyone. I will soon be majoring in law and criminology at American University’s School of Public Affairs. I am interning at the Marketing and Communications Department of the AU School of Professional & Extended Studies (SPExS), where I will be focusing on creating a video series, 'Fitness Fundamentals.' With these short videos, I will give students tips on how to be healthy during COVID19, since we are sitting down so much with remote learning. I think physical and mental health is a very important aspect of life, especially during quarantine. I will be writing, shooting, and editing the clips, so stay tuned!"

“The greatest menace to freedom is an inert people; that public discussion is a political duty; and that this should be a fundamental principle of the American government."

Dedication, inspiration, strength, intelligence, courage, dignity, confidence, determination, humility, and fairness, the American University Washington Semester Program honors the life and legacy of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who infused not only our WSP students with these attributes, but the world as well. Thank you, RBG!
